We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The web-based interface makes it easy to use.""It has simple buying options and deployments. You can buy on-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid solutions. Acronis Backup is very easy to deploy. It also does not consume much hardware. The administrator's tasks are very simple. It is very user friendly, and it also has good security features with low-level encryption and data encryption.""The best thing about it is that we can back up pretty much everything we want to. We don't have to have multiple solutions. It can back up any physical or virtual server, including servers in Azure. It can back up SharePoint, OneDrive, and G Suite. Everything we need to back up can be backed up, and that's why we like it.""Acronis Backup is valuable if your data is affected by ransomware, you are able to get it back.""The most valuable feature of Acronis Backup is the data recovery and restoration details.""For my first experience, it is the best software for backups, especially for a five-system backup.""From my perspective, the most valuable features in Acronis Cyber Protect include ransomware protection and antivirus. These features not only add significant value but also play a crucial role in closing deals. When selling backup for Microsoft 365, these security features, like ransomware protection and antivirus, serve as a starting point to offer backup and protection.""Stability is always good. I have used Acronis for 10 years now, if not more. I have never had a problem with availability, etc."

"If we do a backup of a machine at some point and the server crashes, then we can restore this machine to a different server with the same settings and setup. We will just have to tweak one or two things, like the IP. Then, it is ready to go.""The agentless backups are the big selling point on this, as well as being able to send out across sites so that I can do a restore at either of our two locations.""The main difference I see between Vembu and the other solutions we've tried is that with Vembu, you don't need anybody to tell you what to do. Once you have done the installation you just look at the user interface — it's very friendly — and you can do things yourself without resorting to help from anybody.""We have seen ROI. The real return is when something bad happens. All the proof of concept work that we did, all the testing we did, it all panned out for us. We're already seeing a return on that.""Its ease of use and price are most valuable. It is simple and straightforward. Someone who has never used any backup software will easily understand it from the first installation. It is that simple. Price-wise, it is much cheaper than its counterparts.""The network solution is the most important feature, because we have our own backup server and are doing file backups for our customers.""The scalability is good. It can scale. Adding a new server to a foreign location is easy.""It's easy to restore."

Cons
"No technical support and minimal documentation.""If there was a wizard that would lead you down a road, when creating a backup, that would probably be better than having to go online or call somebody to actually do a backup. It's not intuitive...""In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it interferes with the backup schedule.""It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10.""I would like to see better centralized management, because I use it across multiple clients. To have a console that centrally manages them would be nice.""Acronis has some limitations on the cloud side.""A little bit more integration would be good. It should support broader platforms.""The solution could improve by providing more database backup features and have better integration with many different types of databases. We cannot implement it in all of our infrastructures."

More Acronis Cyber Protect Cons →

"For the more sophisticated backups that do not have a set backup process, procedures that are outside of the norm, it would be nice if we had more control and did not have to use their technical support. While they're very responsive and have always come through in a reasonable time frame, we would like to be able to manage everything on our own.""The product is co-branded, not white-labeled.""There are bugs. For one month, I encountered a big issue where my storage pool could not be identified. My backups were stopped because they were not able to locate the storage pool. So, I removed the settings and started the backups again. The application is not stable. It needs some debugging and testing on the build side of production.""The interface could be better because I have to fumble around to find things. I can't just sit down at the terminal and know exactly what to do. It could be just me, but I have used a number of different backup products, and I found them simpler. However, its features are very good, so I don't mind sacrificing a bit of extra time to do what I need.""The reporting can use some improvement. I still use the old StoreGrid Cloud while I'm migrating the rest of my clients over. I am able to export all of my clients' usage for the month, which I then import into my billing program. It helps me speed up the billing process. Also, I can generate a report that gives me statuses of everyone's backup, which I don't get from Vembu Backup Online either. I would like to have something similar where I can export everyone's usage at any time for all their backups, so I can use that to import them to my billing program.""There was one issue though with the hardware IDs. When I went to a different version of Hyper-V, the hardware IDs weren't restored and the machine got two new IDs. The preliminary unique IDs weren't restored, so I had to reactivate programs.""Windows 10 does not have application-aware backups. From my point of view, that's what's existing needs improvement.""I have seen that the BDRSuite user interface can be less intuitive and more challenging to navigate compared to other similar products."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
  • "Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
  • "I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
  • "It has already paid off itself in the first few months that we implemented it."
  • "When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
  • "I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well. "
  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."
  • More Acronis Cyber Protect Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The product's pricing is a good value. Vembu is cost-effective versus using VMware Essentials. Regarding licensing, make sure you find the right workstation or server that you're going to install it on, and know the number of sockets it has, since the price depends on that."
  • "It is very cost efficient, effective. I’d say it's one-third the cost of Veritas when compared to the server backups. I even tried image backups on Acronis, but Acronis is very expensive. So these are some of the key reasons why I opted for it."
  • "We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
  • "The pricing structure is in line with other solutions. However, the option to replicate offsite to a unit at another office or at home is a big cost benefit. Instead of paying monthly for cloud storage, you replicate offsite for free."
  • "Pricing is fair enough. What was not clear enough in the documentation on the website was that that you're licensing per CPU socket and you are only licensing on the restore sockets, not the backup sockets. It's a bit technical, but it was very well explained during the demonstration that we had during the evaluation period."
  • "I prefer the way Vembu is licensed. When you look at Veeam or any other product, they price per node. Vembu is licensed per host. You just buy a host license and it backs up unlimited VMs within that host. The others charge per VM."
  • "Vembu is too expensive because they don't really have small-business pricing. This is a matter of personal opinion. They're going to tell you that they have competitive pricing because there are more expensive solutions in the marketplace, but there are better solutions in the marketplace that are more expensive. Their product is a better fit for small businesses, but they don't price it that way."
  • "The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."
