We performed a comparison between Azure Backup and Dell PowerProtect DP (IDPA) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."When it comes to Azure Backup, the advantage is that it's native and it's very easy to configure. We don't require a separate tool or manage something on a separate server. At the backend, it's managed by Microsoft itself, and we don't need to manage it."
"The backup features are very useful."
"It's useful, it works, and it's fairly reliable."
"I like that it's a simple system."
"The hardware is always updated and it's saved us a lot of money."
"It is a stable solution...The product is worth the money you pay for it."
"Azure Backup is easy to configure and restore."
"With Azure Backup, you can readily make your environment if your setup somehow fails on the cloud or on-premises."
"We use it for complete backup and recovery. We have multiple clients and have created multiple large virtual capabilities and zoning backlogs."
"What I find valuable about Dell PowerProtect IDPA is its stability and strong performance."
"It backs up our Windows systems and our Linux systems and everything."
"The most valuable feature is the deduplication rate."
"Instead of four or five tools, consisting of backup software, storage where the backup resides, and a separate system for reporting and central monitoring, they all now come in the virtual edition for IDP."
"IDPA's best feature is Turbo Boost Technology. The compression and duplication features are excellent, too."
"The product is easy to troubleshoot and store data."
"It is very simple to perform an upgrade of the system and the environment."
"Azure Backup's licensing model is very challenging because it doesn't give a clear picture."
"I would like to have the option to increase the frequency of the backups. Azure Backup does backups on an hourly basis, but I would prefer it to take backups more often."
"They need to improve the frequency of the backup. You can only backup one to three times a day. It would be better to back up continuously throughout the day."
"The product must improve on a database level."
"I once tried restoring a Linux environment, and the size of the Linux VM or the data disk was really huge. It took a really long time to restore the environment and send the data from the storage to the disk. It took around 25 to 30 minutes, which was much longer than I anticipated. They can improve the duration of such restore operations. In the next release, it would also be good if they could reduce the duration for transferring the data from their storage to the actual storage while creating a virtual machine. They can reduce the duration or increase the data transfer rate."
"The tool's backup should be faster. Azure Backup's support should be faster."
"Azure Backup could improve by offering better integration for Oracle databases and enhancing features like granular restore and backup compliance capabilities."
"It would be beneficial to receive alert messages if something isn't configured correctly, for instance, if service principal names are missing, a message could prompt you to set them up."
"I would like to see integration with Dell EMC's Cloud Tier."
"The solution should be easier to use."
"Dell PowerProtect DP needs to include more features and improve backup for a continual base."
"The two-factor authentication is missing from Dell products."
"There is room for improvement in terms of network connectivity."
