Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The aesthetics of it are really nice. That is what attracted us to BOARD: the ease and functionality of it.""The flexibility and the user-experience are the most valuable features of the solution.""Where it used to take me three days at the beginning of the year to create the new financial statement, now it is a matter of minutes because all the data is in the system.""We have better reporting and have been able to better track performance.""The drill down is good for people who have that high level view, because they can do some analysis based on it.""Instead of taking two people a week each month to perform our internal KPI reporting, the same two people can have it done in a day.""It is useful for self-analysis regarding company data and helps to find areas where we can improve.""The support from the BOARD team and their consultants is great. Whenever I use technical support, they are good."

"Smart View is a really useful tool because we can have a good API with HFM.""It's a very good program and it's useful for consolidation.""Functionality-wise, it is what they say it is. It is the best in class, but it all ties back to your users. If your users are completely enamored with Excel spreadsheets, then breaking those habits is hard.""Stable and scalable solution with a valuable data integration feature which allows the slicing and dicing of data. It also has a workforce planning feature that allows you to bring in your HR data.""This product is very scalable and provides high ROI.""Oracle Hyperion is an engine allowing you to build whatever you want on it.""We can integrate with any system and pull data from SAP or SQL Server. We can also design our own role files to establish how we pull the file data and store it in our database.""One can see that it's a mature product because it addresses all the requirements that you must need for financial consolidation and for budgeting and planning. It's really easy to use."

Cons
"The engine of the Board should be made powerful like the engine of IBM planning which is more powerful in terms of performance. The consolidated finance area also needs improvement.""We have had some challenges with newer version of the rollout in terms of stability.""We would like to see better logging in the procedural world.""It would be nice to have more connectors for other data sources. BOARD is a great tool to become the single source of the truth. Making it easier to connect data sources for niche software tools will make it easier to keep everything in one place.""We can't delete entities and cubes in Boards because it interrupts our whole data model.""The product can be improved by making it possible to know where cubes are used.""The initial setup was very complex for us.""Sometimes, the data disappears from the product."

"Sometimes Oracle Hyperion is slow when there are a lot of users using it. However, we can have up to approximately 300 users using it.""The solution is about to cease to exist, so it doesn't really matter if they add anything to it. It's at end-of-life.""Configuration is a little complex, it's not very easy. The solution is integrated with Essbase and there are not many users of the Essbase database. If they can provide different modules for each subject area, like supply chain, for inventory forecasting or for order management forecasting, it would make each subject area easier to manage.""I found the initial setup to be complex.""There can be an improvement in many regards with the dimensions, the metadata, the interfaces, as well as the integration.""Hyperion has much room for improvement, especially disaster recovery. You don't have the option to choose the proper disaster recovery method. We have Hyperion and an SQL server on the backend. We have active solutions for the backend database server, which aren't working for our people. They've asked us to remove the high availability to increase application performance.""All the planning systems out there are great. It doesn't matter which company you use. They're all great. I've seen demonstrations on a number of them, but it all boils down to the culture within the organization itself to use that functionality, understand it, and help drive it. I've had Oracle salespeople do demonstrations, and it looked really good. We get it on board, and everybody still sticks to their Excel spreadsheets because companies are a lot more complex than what you could deliver on the planning system. So, there should be more education on the capabilities, and there should be more understanding of organizations in terms of the way they access the data in order to plan.""What I like is to have everything on one platform and not in different modules like Oracle Hyperion."

  • "The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."
