Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The graphical interface is very beneficial.""I think that the positives of Camunda Platform are that our customers can start with the free version. I think it is the most important.""The most valuable features are the workflow, the task list, and the modeler where we use VPN.""The most valuable feature is the ability to share the logic within the rules engine with the business, so you can put it up for everybody to read.""The modeler is useful for creating the flow. The way to access the data through their REST API is also valuable. This is what we're using right now.""The solution is good for data models.""It is open-source. It supports microservice orchestration. This is what we are really interested in. We can customize our products depending on the use cases.""The integration with almost any language, product, and even human tasks, is valuable. It's very seamless to integrate into existing systems. It doesn't require you to rewrite a lot of your existing system. That's where it really stands out."

"Pricing is a little on the high side.""When our clients automate the KYC and onboarding processes, they can reduce their manual force and then deploy them in much better tasks rather than the mundane activities of selecting forms and gathering information.""The most valuable feature of Pega BPM is its architecture.""Decreased time for plane departures and landing, supported analytical insight for planning of three to six month forecasting, and helped with operational decision planning and support.""The robotic process automation has increased the confidence of business users.""The technical support of Pega BPM is very good.""In general, we use web services to integrate this solution with our other tools. It is the main approach we use with this solution and it integrates with all tools that we need. If you want to integrate with other solutions such ThreatFire or similar, it is possible as well.""The most valuable aspect of the solution is the various workflows."

Cons
"I'm from the .NET world and I would like to use it, rather than Java.""They could provide more documentation regarding the integration of different programming languages.""When trying to design rule tables the solutions graphical user interface could improve, it could be more user friendly.""If they could build some scripts or some configuration to get it up and running in a Docker environment, that would be good. I didn't find anything when on Docker, however, maybe they have something and I didn't see it yet.""If Camunda could develop something that creates user forms that would be a great feature to have. They also need to improve the UI.""Documentation can be improved.""It lacks some preset features and configurations which would make it more plug-and-play for customers.""The latency of API could be decreased."

More Camunda Cons →

"I would like to see Pega BPM improve the user experience.""One of the areas of this solution that could be improved would be to advance the low code features of the application itself. We would also like to use the same platform to build any application, even if it is not necessarily defined as a functionality needed by a BPM.""There have been some performance scalability issues. Suppose you want to add more users. You go from, say, 800 users to 1,500 users, and sometimes that creates issues for which there is no clear explanation. To fix it you have to escalate it with customer service and sometimes the response is not up to the mark in resolving those issues.""The UI part needs improvement.""There are some UX shortcomings within the solution. However, it's my understanding that they have addressed them and in the next three months they will come out with a new updated version. They will be moving away from HTML5.""It should have integration with non-relational databases. A lot of databases are non-relational, and as a company, we are planning to move to NoSQL or open-source databases. It would be good if we are able to install and use Pega on a NoSQL database. They can also try to tailor or organize the company a bit differently and go more towards the microservice concept. I would like Pega to develop machine learning and intelligent AI algorithms. They have a good foundation in terms of the model and the stuff that we are using for some customers, and it will be good to onboard as many machine learning algorithms as possible.""The cost of licensing could be improved.""They need to support the solution better, at this time the company does not have enough support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is less cost-prohibitive than other solutions on the market. This solution was in our price range."
  • "We are using the open-source version of this solution."
  • "Camunda is much cheaper."
  • "I use the open-source free version."
  • "The open-source version of the product is free to use."
  • "The cost of this solution is better than some competing products."
  • "Licensing costs are anywhere from $80,000 to $100,000 USD per year."
  • "We use the open-source version, which can be used at no cost."
  • More Camunda Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing is expensive. You need to wisely select between per user and per case."
  • "They have both on-premise and cloud licensing. If you are a small to medium company, go for the cloud option because that eliminates a lot of the setting up of your DevTest and performance environments, multiple environments, because you can buy that from Pega with the cloud option. So your setup time really goes down. If you're a large company, then you're better off putting it within your company. You have other skill resources within your company to create environments."
  • "They need to come up with licensing options. Right now they do have a cloud-based option, but the cloud prices I've seen are much more expensive compared to competing products."
  • "The licensing fees are based on the number of users."
  • "May be somewhat more expensive than other solutions initially, but should have enhanced return on investment."
  • "The price of this solution, including installation and configuration, is comparable to competing vendors."
  • "The pricing is pretty good, compared to other similar products."
  • "It's a user-based license where, as you scale the numbers of users, the price increases."
