We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"StarWind Virtual SAN offers high availability and data resilience features to prevent data loss if hardware fails.""A great feature is that I basically set it and forget it, as everything is automatic.""The StarWind tech support is extremely helpful, especially during the initial setup.""The ability to keep data accessible even in the event of hardware failures is highly valued, as it ensures business continuity.""It is extremely stable.""StarWind vSAN has a lot of great features and is a perfect solution for mirroring internal disks and flash between servers.""StarWind Virtual SAN is a very easy-to-use solution that can be quickly and easily deployed and configured without intimate and specific knowledge in the virtualization sphere.""I've been really impressed with it so far. I think it's pretty great, actually. It does exactly what we need it to do, and it does it well, so I would recommend it. Plus, the support has been very good."

"The solution is easy to use and to learn. It is well integrated with VMware.""Cisco provides the ability to configure BIOS, something that no one else can do, on a remote basis. That's really helpful sometimes. The bus-snooping alteration tool for BIOS is fantastic. That's one of the game-changing features that Cisco alone has at this point.""It has reduced the time it takes to put the servers in production by half the time.""The possibility to share the workload is one of its most valuable features. We have many applications which have need of workloads only a few times in a month, so we share HyperFlex with them.""The flexibility is its most valuable feature; the ability to quickly deploy a number of help machines. It is not constrained by what we want to do.""The UCS, which is by far the best management tool there is on the market, regardless of vendor. It's the only tool I see that gives you the opportunity to size and scale all the assets and capacity you have in your data center, from a unified view.""Cisco HyperFlex HX has improved the way our organization functions on the storage side by having one big storage space for hosting VMs. We do not have to provision other ones. That's a positive aspect of it.""Its most valuable feature is its flexibility."

"The solution is stable and everything is taken care of through the Huawei support center. They ensure everything is running smoothly. It's been very good.""The product is very reliable. We haven't had any major issues with the product since we bought it.""The pricing of the solution is excellent. It's one of the main reasons a customer chooses Huawei. It's much, much better than VMware.""The most valuable feature of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is the relocating of resources.""The best thing about the solution is that it combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place. Unlike the traditional three-tier setup, you don't need to buy separate devices for each part. This makes it much easier to control and manage everything in one go without switching between different places for different tasks."

Cons
"When StarWind Virtual SAN for vSphere nodes go offline unexpectedly, the nodes have to re-sync disks fully which takes a long time. We had a power failure and when both nodes came online, VMware vSphere didn't see StarWind disks before I manually re-scanned them form ESXi administration console even though it should happen automatically""It would be helpful to have a little more insight into what kind of performance the VSAN cluster is utilizing; something that would be more proactive on our side, versus their ProActive Support.""You have to do a "full" sync on write-back cache disks instead of a quick sync if there is an issue.""I would like to see some additional, and possibly clearer, implementation videos with some slower and possibly more detailed descriptions of what the various steps of implementation are for someone who is unfamiliar with high availability and failover clustering in Windows.""It should be improved in the way it detects the right filesystem image after a complete shutdown of the system or in the case of disaster recovery.""Diagnostics information or alerts on the state of systems could also be implemented to give more visibility.""I would like to see more advanced free versions.""StarWind doesn't really have any performance reporting, especially compared with other vSAN products we've used."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"Its price could be better.""The initial setup is very complex because there were some issues. It is not clear to how set up this solution.""One of the biggest problems with HyperFlex HX is that if you want to adjust your solution in terms of processing power, memory, or disk capacity, you have to buy completely new hosts. From a financial perspective, it can be very expensive to do so, and from a legal perspective, there are all kinds of compliance issues we would have to sort out before buying any new solution or application.""The additional feature I would like to see included in the next release of this solution is more security. We want to add more data servers to all the hosts all over the world. We have 140 hosts that connect to one data center in Manila.""The initial setup of profiles and templates could be improved. Maybe some end profiles that you can use based on your type of deployment would be good.""Cisco is quite expensive but not in the initial first buy.""I would like it to be easier to manage the server, create VMs, and manage the VMs on the client.""I would like a lighter product; something which can be carried by a mere human. The typical size still looks like a stack of data center-sized servers, which is typically fine, but not so good if you want to carry it around."

More Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series [EOL] Cons →

"Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure could improve the security of the solution. However, we are comfortable using it. Additionally, there could be more information provided for the solution and the interface could be more user-friendly.""t would be helpful if the solution was able to collaborate or integrate with other well-known monitoring tools. Right now, you have to work hard to get it configured. It would be a good selling point for them if they could open up their solution to more integrations.""Technical support needs improvement. There's a lot of language barriers.""The solution currently does not have cloud integration.""I want the product to be used more efficiently and for our system to connect easily with cloud services like AWS, Oracle, and IBM. We can also improve by adding advanced features like snapshots, replication, and encryption, allowing for more growth. Introducing features such as data duplication, data analytics, and AI-driven insights will improve its deployments."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."

  • "Cisco is quite expensive, but not in the initial first buy."
  • "Pricing is better if you buy more Cisco products."
  • "The pricing is a bit expensive."
  • "For customers in the private sector, this product can have a very high return on investment."
  • "If you don't look at the costs of the systems, the scalability is quite good."
  • "The price is a bit high. It could be better, but the product is worth the cost."
  • "I would like the pricing to be cheaper."
  • "Comparable solutions with switches, storage, and services are cheaper than HyperFlex. It should be cheaper."

  • "The price of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is very good. There is a perpetual license for the solution, there are not any additional costs for the hardware. We have a license in case there is any new functionality that is required."
  • "I rate Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure's pricing a six out of ten."
