We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the granularity of visibility into the resources that are in use by our applications.""ControlUp has an easy installation process.""Integration with Netscaler and Scoutbees can provide a proper end-to-end analysis of the user's experience and give us a real ROI.""ControlUp is beneficial as it provides a web interface through which you can access all your infrastructure—servers, devices, and VDI infrastructure—all on the same platform. It supports gathering all infrastructure components in a single, unified dashboard. This helps you identify performance issues or high resource utilization, allowing quick troubleshooting. I appreciate the solid interface that ControlUp offers.""It has a great career time monitoring tool.""When using ControlUp, the core feature that we have found valuable is its UI. It is a valuable tool to view the analysis reactions of a base core Level 2 or Level 1 team so that they can complete the necessary troubleshooting.""The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities.""ControlUp has some good functionalities, such as remotely pushing scripts in the device through the tool."

"Nexthink saves a lot of time for the technicians who work on the troubleshooting side...Nexthink provides its users with a very good point of overview and presentation.""The auto building capability has been most valuable. It keeps on checking the system in terms of various factors like battery, memory usage and application usage.""Nexthink allows our customers to have visibility into their whole environment and security. And it lets you install the agent as a package for selected users instead of every user. This helps cut down on the delay involved in a bulk installation.""In the past two years, the biggest benefit is that we have been able to identify 57,000-plus defects. These are possible tickets that we are preventing by using Nexthink.""The search engine functionality that Nexthink has on the finder is terrific.""This is a proactive management tool and we make use of the metrics, dashboard creation and complete remote actions on end user machines.""Nexthink's best features are Engage and Act, which we use in combination for self-healing use cases.""All the features of Nexthink are really useful when it comes to providing visibility into the endpoints and the services that we are monitoring, but the most interesting and useful features are the campaign and remote actions."

Cons
"ControlUp could improve the integration. Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop monitoring has better integration.""The graphical user interface needs to be improved from version to version.""This solution be improved by including load throttling tools. For example, I can identify a service where we spend a lot of CPU but I cannot restrict the service from ControlUp. I have to use another tool like AppSense.""Solve is a quick and intuitive tool for quickly mapping data together, however, once you have the view of the data that you like, it is difficult to share this with colleagues.""There was some lag earlier, and reports pulled from the dashboard would sometimes be half an hour old. But now, the information provides real-time status, which is greatly appreciated. Overall, I've seen improvement in the product.""The most common complaint that I have heard, at least within our organization, is about reporting. They have their own reporting. It's just that it doesn't yet include everything that you can look at within the application. You can only report on specific metrics or collections.""Most reports give information about the top 100 devices, but not all of the devices.""Something I would love to see from a partner perspective would be maybe a way to do this in a surface hosting provider."

More ControlUp Cons →

"The next release could use some improvement in the tools that are provided.""There are many limitations. If I'm using a Windows 10 system and Windows has certain restrictions, Nexthink won't be able to penetrate into the Windows OS due to those restrictions.""It would be good to have a more controlled way to access their cloud environment.""We would like better connectivity with SCCM for on-premises infrastructure and autopilot for cloud deployment.""We have provided them feedback on a few changes we would like to see with how alerting can work. Rather than have somebody looking at the network, if network utilization goes above a certain point, it would be helpful if the solution issued an alert to the right people.""In our company, we can't deploy anything from Nexthink the way we can deploy from any other endpoint solutions. It is not possible to create any dashboard in Nexthink...One should be able to schedule monitoring in Nexthink.""It lacks a library for standard EXEs to be named automatically.""We've had some issues integrating Nexthink with the cloud, so there are some delays in bandwidth, causing it to slow down a little. If they added better integration with the public cloud, I would be more likely to recommend it to customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We are satisfied with the price compared to other solutions."
  • "Personally, I would say that the only thing I could compare it to is another monitoring tool that we use, Nagios."
  • "Based on my experience, ControlUp is not that expensive."
  • More ControlUp Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Nexthink can pay for itself quickly if you identify and complete the most valuable use cases. The tool can do so much that to purely compare the price in a static way to other tools in your arsenal would be a mistake. If you do a more dynamic comparison that’s based on the overall functionality and use cases possible then it comes out cheaper. You need to consider it a relative measurement against potential use cases, size of the organization, maturity of organization, etc."
  • "With this implementation of the Act and Engage module, I believe that there is a one-time fee for a two-month period, which is for the support team to make additional customizations."
  • "I have seen it help improve the user experience scores. This helped clients to save costs on another tool that they were trying to deploy in order to improve the user experience by just deploying some scripts. We were able to identify the issues and help them remediate those using our help. The process does not take much time and it provided background on end user performance. Therefore, they were able to save a lot, e.g., for approximately 50,000 endpoints at two dollars per machine per year, that is about $100,000 in savings."
  • "There are certain layers when it comes to pricing. The product has three layers and these layers are associated with certain sources. For example, the top layer have the premium services and the bottom layer has the basic services."
  • "I would rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten. The tool's pricing model is pay-as-you-use."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the ControlUp solution.

A Chair, IEEE Consumer Technology Society - Dallas,Texas, USA at a non-profit says, “In terms of the public cloud, ControlUp's features make us feel very secure. Security, uptime, and reduced capital expenditures are the main reasons we use ControlUp. So basically, the money that we consume is based on the amount of time we are using a service. ControlUp offers a return-on-investment type of approach that helps us.”

A VP Virtualisation and Citrix Engineer at BlackRock mentions, “Solve is quickly becoming one of the most-used features. Its interface allows us to connect to all 54,000 monitored endpoints in real-time. The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities. Combined with the triggers, we have been growing their usage to fix things before they become an issue. Lastly, the controller view allows us to compare the configurations of settings side-by-side which is extremely helpful when tracking down the RCA of an issue.”

A Senior Citrix Remote Access Engineer at Rabobank comments, “The high-level view of the estate coupled with powerful administration tools has been great. We can see real-time performance and trends and can create triggers for common issues with associated scripts that can automate a lot of the previous manual remediation steps.”
