Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"In Digital Guardian, they have the cloud correlation servers that give you visibility work like EBR and the correlation server works very well for security analysis.""The technical support is really terrific.""We have been able to monitor access to files from each of our workstations.""The most valuable feature of Digital Guardian is its reputation. They have scored high on the Gartner Magic Quadrant.""I like the solution's adaptive inspection and container inspection.""Some of the features that are highly appreciated are its robust data loss prevention capabilities, flexible deployment options, and the ability to monitor data transfer across multiple vectors.""It has the added advantage of offering forensic analysis.""There is a built-in endpoint detection response that helps save money."

"The user experience and the quality of the features are good.""The most valuable features of the solution are the fact that they are able to encrypt the hard disk and to encrypt USB sticks.""With Sophos, I only need to generate the password and give that to a user to be able to allow them to login to the admin page of the Endpoint and do whatever they need to do. The user cannot go ahead and uninstall it. It's kept us much more secure because of this. Should any event happen on a particular system, I'm given the username and the system IP address. I get notifications and can deal with issues right away.""I like the support most of all.""It's a straightforward solution.""The solution has done a fabulous job of protecting us from threats.""It's easy to use. You have to pay extra for additional, but the basic product is fantastic. It will be a good solution for you, depending on your requirements.""The most valuable feature is the synchronized security. It's a unique feature on the market at this time only offered by Sophos. As a reseller, we often win bids and get clients because of this unique trademark feature."

Cons
"The room for improvement with Digital Guardian is that it will be better with the Linux agent because it is the only DLP solution for Linux workstations. It still needs to upgrade the agents to the latest version for the Linux kernel.""There are a lot of issues with the current version of the Endpoint agent. It's not stable, it's resource-consuming, and there are some performance issues. If they could improve the stability of the agent it would be great.""Some features on Mac and Linux are not complete currently. For example, some device control features haven't been transferred over to the other systems. If they could have their Windows features also available on Mac and Linux, that would be perfect. Some of our customers have a Mac environment for their RD environment. Having the solution fully capable of handling everything in a Mac environment is crucial.""It would be helpful if there was an on-premise version of the solution for companies that cannot use the cloud, such as government sectors.""I would like to see the workflow, to get all the rules and policies set up, be less complicated.""Digital Guardian is an excellent solution but our experience with the partner has been the most horrible experience we have ever had with any partner.""The initial setup is a bit more complex than other solutions.""Technical support could be better."

More Digital Guardian Cons →

"The Office 360 integration could be improved.""It just needs a little bit more on the reporting side. Its reporting can be improved a little bit in terms of being able to know that things are in the right status. I should be able to pull a report to make sure that everything is all right. It could also have cloud integration. At the time I was using it, it wasn't a cloud product.""Sophos SafeGuard is a German product. Sophos isn't really active in Europe. The Middle East, Africa, South Africa works with Sophos but their primary users aren't in Europe. They should market and push this solution to the European market.""Sometimes, multiple updates and crashes happen in the tool, making it an area where improvements are required.""It would be ideal if the solution had different features within one agent.""The cost is rather expensive. It's a pain point for many clients. They should work to see if they can reduce pricing.""The solution is not using other features like booting encryption, because it causes very heavy processing of the workstation. If they could find some way to handle the encryption and decryption to be lighter on the workstation it would be better.""Having a DLP integrated with the encryption engine would be very good."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Digital Guardian has both, subscription and perpetual licenses, but I think when everything (all technologies) will go to the cloud they will only offer subscriptions."
  • "If I compare Digital Guardian with Symantec, the license cost is lower, but McAfee can be cheaper than Digital Guardian. It depends on how many licenses you plan to buy and how big the project is. The cost is not so high as Symantec, but not as cheap as McAfee. They can easily sell the solution for price."
  • "The price of Digital Guardian is expensive."
  • "The cost was around $300,000."
  • "The price of Digital Guardian is on the higher end compared to other vendors."
  • "I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten because Digital Guardian is expensive."

  • "The licensing costs depend on the series. For example, XG 85 can be around $200. If you go to ACC or to a four or five-year enterprise solution, you will find these devices can cost $10,000. It depends on the series."
  • "Licensing for this solution is on a yearly basis."
  • "The licenses are dependant on the number of users and computers you have to protect."
  • "We have a yearly license with Sophos which is around $1000-$1200 or so per annum. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
  • "Licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing could be better."
  • "It would be great if the price of the solution was lower than the current price. If we are to sell this particular solution to smaller businesses and not just enterprise businesses it needs to be lower."
  • "We pay around $10 a year for each endpoint, including support."
  • "Pricing for Sophos SafeGuard could be improved because it could reach a thousand dollars depending on the product, edition, and software key purchased."
