We performed a comparison between Domo and Splunk Enterprise Security based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Microsoft, Tableau, SAP and others in BI (Business Intelligence) Tools."It has the best GUI. And it already has an ETL tool embedded in it..."
"The most valuable feature currently is the self-service BI availability in Domo. I would say the data file fabric solutions where the users themselves are responsible for generating their own reports."
"With ETL transformations in SQL lists, you often write a lot of queries. You have to build a bunch of code for the data. With Domo, one of the pieces we have is Magic ETL. In Magic ETL, you don't need to write code. You don't need to be a specialist in SQL or any database query language."
"Using the "cards" which function as preconfigured reports or views. I use many of them simultaneously on an organized page, with filters that allow me to see high-level information as well as subsets across the dataset, in a few clicks. Many Excel-challenged users love to use this product for its simplicity."
"Domo has a lot of connections using APIs where you can use data from different databases, such as NoSQLs, SQL databases, and other connections. These connections exist to obtain data and transform whatever that you want."
"I mostly see it as an ETL which has many system connectors. It does a good job of ETL."
"All our client SLAs and daily and weekly dashboards are tracked on Domo."
"The dashboarding itself was pretty easy. So both the front and the back end were positive in this case."
"The most valuable feature is the incident dashboard, and the extensive use of correlation searches, which isn't available with a standard Splunk search package. This feature is important to me because it enables SOC analysts to do their job more efficiently and be able to investigate or mediate incidents at a faster pace."
"You can check up on security from the dashboards."
"If I need to integrate devices for logs, it is easier with Splunk. We can integrate different applications, network devices, and databases. It is also very rich in documents. It is the best."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Enterprise Security is website activity monitoring."
"The scalability of the solution is amazing because it can collect a lot of data and you can have your own structure to monitor this data."
"We used it to create a custom anomaly detection data model to monitor the activity of our back-end services on an hourly basis relative to the past three months of activity."
"The ability to digest any information and then correlate it in accordance with what you need is valuable. The ability to connect to pretty much everything and bring the information in the same format is also valuable. On top of that, we can use their language in order to create and customize the dashboards, correlations, or analytics that we want to incorporate."
"The initial setup is simple, not very complex. Initial deployment takes around 10 to 15 minutes to set up the entire base for Splunk including all three tiers."
"I would like to see better data intake."
"There's a learning curve before you can get used to the solution."
"Their organization or client service didn't always keep up... They took on more and more clients and the processes slowed down a little bit."
"It is expensive."
"One of the improvements that could be made is related to improved storage options."
"If Domo had a Copilot feature, you could interact with the graphs and talk to the graphs and tables."
"It is expensive."
"The forecasting feature, the regression features, and the Python libraries could all be improved. They're all in beta."
"The solution has a high learning curve for users. It's a little complicated when you're trying to figure out all the features and what they do."
"The product was difficult to back up the first time."
"A problem that we had recently had was we licensed it based on how much data you upload to them every day. Something changed in one our applications, and it started generating three to four times as many logs and. So now, we are trying to assemble something with parts of the Splunk API to warn ourselves, then turn it off and throttle it back more. However it would be better if they had something systematically built into the product that if you're getting close to your license, then to shut things down."
"Previously, they developed custom connectors or add-ons for a lot of applications. But that number can be upgraded still. There are a lot of applications in the world that are not supported."
"The configuration could be better."
"If it could be made available as a service, this would be much better than as a product."
"While scheduled reports can be embedded, Splunk dashboard can not be embedded directly without enabling cross origin."
"Its user interface for everything other than the charts can be improved. Some parts of it can be simplified a bit, such as when importing documents that have the network traffic. When you're going through the information about the network traffic, you have to have the expertise, but even if a program is supposed to be for IT support, it is good to make it user-friendly because it gets easier to train people. When something goes wrong, the more difficult a program is in terms of UI, the harder it is to fix the issue."
