We performed a comparison between Fortinet FortiToken and Microsoft Entra ID based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Authentication Systems solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Its ease of use is most valuable. It is simple to use and can be deployed out-of-the-box. It is quite a mature product with all the required features."
"The tool's support is the best."
"Bangladesh is a price-sensitive market, and FortiToken is popular because it's more affordable than the Palo Alto and Cisco authentication solutions. Fortinet has a local director for Bangladesh, so they can deliver solutions to customers quickly."
"Its ease of installation is most valuable. It took me five minutes, and it was up and running. It didn't take me that long. The installation on the cell phones is pretty simple."
"Fortinet FortiToken provides security and authenticates that the right external people are working with a company's system."
"The integrated Fortinet security with the app that allows you to easily do the two-factor authentication is most valuable."
"The solution is simple and similar to Google Authenticator. It follows time-based authentication. We use it for hardware and software in one environment. The tool offers simple and fast authentication for SSL."
"I love the push-button authentication on FortiToken Mobile. It's also great that the soft token automatically reloads the OTP at intervals, so I always have a fresh code to enter."
"Privileged Identity Management (PIM), managed identities, dynamic groups, and extension and security attributes are all great features."
"The most valuable features of Microsoft Entra ID are the login and the conditional access pieces."
"It has things like conditional access. For example, if someone is accessing sensitive information, then we could force them to do multi-factor authentication. Therefore, we can stop access if it is coming from a location that we did not expect."
"It helps with privacy control of identity data. It makes security very easy."
"It is a really nice tool and we have a license for the more complex model."
"The most valuable features are the Conditional Access policies, SSPR, and MFA. Another good functionality is registering enterprise applications to provide access to external parties. These four features are precious and are the most used across different use cases for various clients and projects."
"We do not have to deploy lots of machines all over the place to run things as a service, which is how we like to deploy things, just as a service."
"With Azure Active Directory we were able to manage with different options the access for different users."
"I would like to see if FortiToken can integrate with Office 365 mail to support the same two-factor authentication experience that I have with ESET. With ESET, when a user logs in, they are easily directed to the ESET authentication page, where they are prompted to enter their OTP after supplying their username and password. I understand from support that FortiToken cannot do this with email integration. That's why I opted for ESET."
"I would like to see complete OAuth support. Also, if they can support it from a SaaS (Software as a Service) or cloud platform, that would be great."
"Fortinet support has some room for improvement. It has taken a long time to resolve some issues or find a workaround."
"The app could be improved so that you don't have to actually type in the code. It would be great if you can just do a prompt or push similar to the way Duo does."
"The problem is that our customers create budgets annually based on the figures at the beginning of the fiscal year. Our customers get annoyed when the price is adjusted in the middle of the year. I understand that it's a difficult time, and price increases make sense for hardware devices. However, FortiToken is a software product, so it shouldn't be affected by factors like chip shortages or supply chain issues. Software solutions should have more transparent and predictable pricing."
"Support is a pain point in Bangladesh because there aren't many experienced Fortinet engineers in this country. It's easier to find one certified in Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper."
"It could be integrated better if you could have your FortiToken, and the license would allow you to work across multiple FortiGate solutions."
"Its reporting should be better. The reporting feature is missing. I don't have any reporting of who has done what, what has failed, and what didn't work."
"On-premise capabilities for information and identity management need improvement."
"Though the installation was seamless, it took longer than expected to be completed."
"ESAE management, especially the admin tools, could be improved. It should be built in by the vendor, and I shouldn't have to add patches or updates to connect to my domain directly. It should be added by default. The price could be better."
"The documentation could be better."
"We have a lot of freedom in using the Group Policy Objects and, although Group Policy Objects are part of Azure Active Directory, there are still a lot of things that can be improved, such as providing local admin rights to a user. There are various, easy ways that I can do that in the on-premises version, but in the cloud version, it is a bit difficult. You have to create a bunch of policies to make it work."
"A nice feature that is not currently present, would be if they had some visualization tools."
"The cost of licensing always has room for improvement."
"There are some features, where if you want to access them, then you need to make use of PowerShell. If someone is not really versed in PowerShell scripting, then they would definitely have issues using some of those features in Azure Active Directory."
