Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It provides easy integration with Office tools.""The most valuable features are the flexibility, how many ways you can interrogate the data, and the the graphical visualization.""The best feature of this solution is the way you can plan, communicate, and visualize all the knowledge you extract from the data for the customers. I like the way you can show or visualize the information a client needs to answer a business question.""In my opinion, Microsoft BI is a low-cost solution, and it could be an interesting solution for a tourism company.""With Power BI, you're able to store your data within spreadsheets and SharePoints, and then have Power BI pull the data out and report on it. So we actually saved a ton of money not needing to load the data into databases, which is a big prerequisite for many other reporting tools.""It is very well integrated with other Microsoft products, including PowerApps and Excel, as well as Access, so it fits well into our workflow.""The most valuable feature of Power BI is its ability to provide customized visualizations and insights tailored to specific business needs.""Its seamless integration with Microsoft products, such as Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Excel, is the most valuable."

"Great capability, performance, flexibility, visuals, and the solution is also very cost effective.""I am looking forward to testing their full graphics that are available, as they looked very interesting in the demo."

Cons
"Microsoft BI has its own challenges in terms of user interface and how quickly somebody can learn how to use it.""Maybe they can enhance the UI a bit. Right now, it's very basic, I would say, compared to the MicroStrategy or Qlik.""The DAX features need some improvement. It's not as easy as Excel. They need more DAX formulas.""We did have some issues building the Microsoft blog.""A few features available in Tableau are not available in Power BI. For example. Tableau has the ability to make up the physical layer and all other stuff at runtime. In Power BI, we have to develop a proper physical layer to connect it. The limitation that we normally face is related to the direct query mode. When it comes to the direct query mode, most of the functionality is not working, which is an issue for us. We have to use the direct query mode frequently because the client needs real-time data. They should work on this limitation. There are a lot of other technical things that need to be improved. I am also following the Power BI platform and Microsoft Support Center platform on the web where users have put their requirements. Microsoft is also working on improving this solution. In every update, they add new features to this solution.""The look and feel should be updated in terms of the types of dashboards and graphs that you can produce. They aren't as visual as some of its competitors.""Actionable insights could be better.""Things can slow down if you create too many pages."

"There should be a better or an easier way to establish that connection to external sources.""Would like the ability to be able to benchmark."
