We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points.""The single dashboard is a valuable feature."

"It allows us to get quicker resolutions. We can see exactly what is using up the bandwidth, so we can assist end users.""The ability to troubleshoot customers' connectivity has been very beneficial.""I love the single pane of glass view. It makes it easier to not have to navigate everywhere. It allows more simplistic visibility, without having to go from tool to tool to tool, or from window to window to window.""It is very rock solid. We hardly have any hardware issues.""The technical support is really good. They will go above and beyond, if you are running into a problem. You can go to a sales engineer, who will engage technical support to help you out.""It helps us to assist our customers to isolate problems. If it is us who is having the problem, then we can use it to streamline the process.""When we have mobile operators who are signal partners, where one is the roaming host and another is the roamer, we are able to see their traffic. Their packets are able to detect if any faults to develop, and at what point they fail.""The tool has the ability to look back within a month's data. It is very easy to navigate within the tool and troubleshoot the problem, compared to other solutions that we've used in the past."

"If one of our network pipes is getting plugged up by somebody using too much bandwidth, we can use the NETSCOUT tool to examine and find out what is going on.""The solution transforms packet wire data into real-time data that is actionable. It helps us with faster detection of issues and allows us to create alerts.""The most valuable features are visibility, real-time, on-demand.""The most valuable feature of this solution is being able to drill down into any kind of troubles that are reported to us, by use of identifiers.""With the Vprobes, we quickly identified issues on the application servers, which we normally couldn't, where it usually would be a full circle round between our NOC and server people.""Aside from having the logs that are just on the firewall, we're able to get the traffic as it's going in between, throughout our network. It isolates end sources that are having issues, where we don't have any other tools that would be able to go down to an end-user's computer to find out what's going on.""It is a scalable product.""The VoLTE model, call search and Media Monitor were essential when we launched VoLTE. We're relying heavily on them to troubleshoot our VoLTE calls."

Cons
"The technical support needs improvement.""The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"The stability depends on who is using the tool, because you only can get as much out of the tool as you put into it. There are a lot of patches for this particular environment, so you have to keep on them. If you lose track of them, then the product is not useful anymore.""We don't use the single pane of glass view, even though we own it.""The scalability has some limitations and quirks to it. I would like to be able to upgrade rather than replace the whole thing.""Only problems that we have had are fiber issues going into the TAPs or vSTREAMs, which are usually local site issues.""Being able to manage the packet flow switches in nGeniusONE would be great.""It's not able to communicate with our probes.""The monitoring and reporting tool needs improvement. Users want more information, such as the level of detail when doing a packet analysis. They want more detail to be able to isolate down to a specific point.""I would like to see an improved level of stitching between IPs."

More NETSCOUT InfiniStreamNG Cons →

"Initially, we were having a lot of issues with bugs when using version 6.1.1. There were a lot of problems with the dashboard causing confusion. We worked with our SE and the NETSCOUT engineering team to fix the visibility with the data. There should be a patch release to fix this issue. However, this seems to be working fine for us right now after the 6.2.2 upgrade.""NETSCOUT nGeniusONE is a complex product since it deals in areas like network packet brokers and packet analysis, making the tool complicated for end users.""The scalability needs some work. From a probe perspective, we are limited to a certain amount of throughput on the devices themselves. Without having actual hooks into the bare metal hardware for the solutions, it's a bit of a "thumb in the air" as to when we hit our capacity or when our high watermark is.""One of the products we use is SolarWinds, and it provides a very cool mapping of an agent from end-to-end. If NETSCOUT could somehow implement that into their design... make it quicker and easier to get those net paths, it would be huge.""There is currently less visibility or GUI to analyse the packet for troubleshooting purposes.""The stability is only fair. It goes down a lot.""Initial setup was complex.""On a network the size of ours, the loading times seem a little extensive, 20 or 30 seconds to load up some graphs."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "To capture more with the solution that we bought, you have to buy another InfiniStreamNG, and there are only four ports in the back."
  • "The scalability is good, but it comes at a cost. E.g., if you need 100 InfiniStream because you are sending gigs or terabytes of data to one InfiniStream, then you will have to purchase another InfiniStream, which are not cheap."
  • "It can be scalable. It just costs too much. With a company as big as ours, it gets too expensive to accommodate every single site."
  • "This product could be cheaper."
  • "The price is a little high."
  • "I would like it to be more scalable with less spend."
  • More NETSCOUT InfiniStreamNG Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "If you are able and you are willing to use everything that Netscout provides to you, it's probably a relatively fair price. The problem is that it's such a large and such a complex tool that I'm not sure that many companies would be able to use it entirely, the way it's expected to be used."
  • "Like any company, we always want better pricing. The pricing is okay, but it's not a cheap solution. When you want to deploy it across an enterprise as large as ours, you go into seven figures. It's not a cheap solution to get out there."
  • "Their pricing is very competitive with other solutions... But what I like about NETSCOUT's licensing is that it's shared across all their platforms. They don't create a new licensing scheme for every one of their products. So for nGeniusONE, you buy a certain license level, and it works on all of their products."
  • "Cost is probably the biggest drawback. Compared to some of the newer vendors that have popped up in the space, it's definitely more on the expensive side... [But] it's been able to keep its value, even in the face of the cheaper competition."
  • "The biggest problem we have with this product is the expense."
  • "It can be expensive, but if you have a good configuration, based on what you are looking for, it's okay, it's manageable."
  • "It is very expensive, but it's well worth the money."
  • "It is a little overall pricey and expensive, but you get what you pay for."
