We performed a comparison between Azure Backup and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Zerto, Commvault and others in Backup and Recovery."When it comes to Azure Backup, the advantage is that it's native and it's very easy to configure. We don't require a separate tool or manage something on a separate server. At the backend, it's managed by Microsoft itself, and we don't need to manage it."
"It is a stable solution...It is a highly scalable solution."
"I like the product's restoration cases."
"The deployment process is quite easy in Azure."
"All of the core features are valuable to us."
"With a couple of buttons, we can configure a VM for a backup and use the wall service, the storage wall service, pretty seamlessly."
"It's very simple to configure which is very useful. It's not complex to configure it."
"This solution is easy to configure and restore. It is a Microsoft product so is easily compatible with other solutions."
"It's straightforward to set up."
"To do the actual backup configuration is also not too bad."
"The Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is easy to use and performing a recovery is easy to do."
"Solution provides good security."
"I love Veeam because it is very easy to work with."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered."
"It's powerful and user-friendly."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."
"Azure Backup's licensing model is very challenging because it doesn't give a clear picture."
"They need to improve the frequency of the backup. You can only backup one to three times a day. It would be better to back up continuously throughout the day."
"The time required to restore files should be a little faster."
"The solution is still in its infancy; it's not a mature product yet."
"I once tried restoring a Linux environment, and the size of the Linux VM or the data disk was really huge. It took a really long time to restore the environment and send the data from the storage to the disk. It took around 25 to 30 minutes, which was much longer than I anticipated. They can improve the duration of such restore operations. In the next release, it would also be good if they could reduce the duration for transferring the data from their storage to the actual storage while creating a virtual machine. They can reduce the duration or increase the data transfer rate."
"Ransomware protection is missing in Azure Backup."
"Technical support can be slow to respond at times."
"My company faces a lot of difficulties in restoring any encrypted VM backup."
"A lower price would always be beneficial."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows should improve by having more features, easier deployment, and compatibility with Unix boxes."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"While the Veeam agent is perfect, sometimes the agent doesn't install in Windows."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"Troubleshooting is very hard."
"I would like to have a more automated installation process."
"The solution could use some updates to minor details omitted from current reporting."
