We performed a comparison between Barracuda Email Security Gateway and Kaspersky Security for Mail Server based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Secure Email Gateway (SEG) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It catches a lot of things and has the ability to add domains as well as add senders and update their things."
"The solution is scalable."
"It's easy to use. The configuration and web interface are user-friendly."
"The product safeguards user mail for gateway defense, data protection, business continuity, AI-based inbox defense, and automated threat detection and incident response."
"The solution's anti-spam features are its most valuable aspect."
"This solution has helped to significantly reduce the amount of junk email that we receive."
"The client has the option to blacklist or whitelist any email address or domain based on the sender and recipient filters. If they want, they can restrict any IP addresses so email won't be received from those IP addresses."
"The spam filtering, in particular, is very important for us. We have a large volume of emails each month, something like 200,000, and Barracuda filters about 85 percent of the spam, malware, and phishing that comes in. It prevents our users from receiving this content on their computers."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is a highly reliable and dependable solution."
"The most valuable feature is the straightforward setup."
"The most valuable features are the anti-phishing and anti-spam capabilities."
"The integration rate is very high in Kaspersky, which is why most of our customers like it."
"You can install the plugins on the same machine hosting your exchange solution. It's a good complement for Sophos security, which scans the traffic before it reaches your mail service. Kaspersky is on the mail server itself while Sophos handles the incoming traffic. With both of them working together, we have the perfect solution for mail."
"Few customers require an on-premises fabric ATP box for attack detection and response."
"Solution requires regular checking to ensure it's 'keeping up' with spam."
"Barracuda Email Security Gateway can improve reporting and anti-spam. The anti-spam engine is not working well. We are seeing a lot of problems where spam is going through the gateway. Additionally, access privilege should be given to the IT support, because they don't have a lot of privileges. We are forced to give our IT support administrative access in order to clear and deliver emails and this should not be happening."
"Its integration with other solutions can be improved. There should be integration for telemetry information, system information, and other types of information with other solutions. Barracuda currently doesn't have that. Barracuda has its own platform. Its integration with firewalls is quite good, and it communicates really well with firewalls, but I have not seen any other integration. Based on what I know, it does have an API at the backend, but I have not used it."
"False positives have given us issues."
"Barracuda isn't catching everything. We're still getting quite a few phishing emails, so we're looking for something else."
"The reports are standard, and it would be nice to be able to customize them."
"The solution could improve by adding DomainKeys (DKIM) functionality. This is something that is essentially required nowadays for outbound security. They do not have it on their on-premise solution appliance but they have alternate arrangements for their cloud solution."
"The biggest problem in the solution is related to its license renewal since it is pretty hard in Kaspersky to find out the procedure to renew a license."
"The solution is not 100 percent stable and that can use improvement."
"Encrypted email attachments are not being monitored by this solution, which is an area that they need to work on."
"Kaspersky lacks in the area of customization, so simpler customization options need to be provided to users."
"It would be great if Kaspersky could do what Sophos does for us. However, we love having these two different technologies doing the same thing. Sometimes Sophos has the patch to block a novel threat, but Kaspersky doesn't."
