We performed a comparison between Cisco NGIPS and Hillstone S-Series Network Intrusion Prevention System based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Darktrace, Vectra AI, Check Point Software Technologies and others in Intrusion Detection and Prevention Software (IDPS)."We primarily use this solution as an application filter and for IPS."
"The most valuable features of Cisco NGIPS are the VPN, IPS, access policy management, EIM, and the ASA model as part of Firepower."
"The URL filtering feature and the new locations feature are both valuable additions to the solution."
"NGIPS lets you map web requests to a specific user to determine who is downloading files and what they are accessing. You can use it to identify users downloading malware or track time wasters using Facebook or something like that. It gives you visibility into what your users are doing on the Internet."
"The thing about this solution that I like the most is that it's intuitive."
"This is a stable solution."
"Cisco is number one in the technical support. It's good technical support and this is actually a problem when we do the recruitment for some other products. Other products you are on hold forever and the support might be not the best compared to Cisco."
"The tracking intelligence feature is very good. This solution provides us with the opportunity to detect threats in real-time."
"Setup is straightforward with the same reliability and scalability as the firewall series."

"We would like to see some improvement in the configuration process for this solution, as it is currently quite complex."
"If there was a software-based solution for scaling up then it would be much better."
"Cisco NGIPS should work on its shortcomings related to the issues that stem from bugs and performance."
"The solution would be better if it offered customers more integrations and more signatures."
"The feedback from some of our customers is that they weren't interested in Cisco because it was too complicated to deploy, especially in cloud-related areas."
"We don't like its licensing model. It has separate licensing for all the features. For instance, to get URL filtering, you need to buy another license. Every feature set seems to require another license. Unless you purchase them all upfront, you find some surprises and realize that you can't do that because you need another license. Its logging isn't quite as good as it used to be in our previous solution. We used to have Cisco ASA, and we could view the logs a lot easier than NGIPS (also known as Firepower). We saw real-time logging, but we don't see that as much in Firepower."
"I would like to see integration with monitoring tools such as Nagios or BMC."
"There are some features not found in Firepower, like data loss prevention, and SSO, to have a connection between Cisco and Active Directory which was introduced on other products."
"Lack of tools to help educate end users"
