Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is a stable one.""We are able to now automate tests, which so far have been manual.""The solution is based on a Windows model, where adding users is just a few clicks. It is easy to manage users and add them.""GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial.""We did see a massive return on investment from using Eggplant.""The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing.""It provides very strong cross-platform support.""It is easy to set up."

"The utmost importance lies in the performance of the application.""The solution offers excellent integration capabilities.""One good feature is SoapUI's URL check, which allows you to check among the applications. I'm not just talking about the ones for Android. It has all kinds of multi-world tests that are really helpful.""The out-of-the-box support for the database is a valuable feature.""It clearly makes it easy to test APIs based on the SOAP protocol. We are a logistics company, and we have lots of tracking calls coming in. We provide APIs for tracking services, and it makes sense for us to use SoapUI to test them thoroughly.""The solution scales well.""Using SoapUI's automation suites to run all our test cases saved us a lot of time. Running 300 test cases takes about three to four days. When you automate all that, it takes only two to three hours.""The solution has some good scanning features."

Cons
"The language is too specific; it is just for Eggplant.""It has low productivity.""They need to update the Linux. I think it's kind of an outdated Java Swing application.""The solution would crash from time to time.""The IDE could be even more full-featured. Because I was a developer, I was very spoiled by either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio for shortcuts. For example, I was able to say "ctor" and hit Tab and it would create a template of a constructor for me... It would be great, when I want to create a new function, if there were shortcut commands like those that helped create all of the functions, or if there were shortcut features to do any of the complex plans.""There was no free trial in it.""I would like to see standardized actions already built into Eggplant. For example, "wait eight seconds". That way, I wouldn't need to create it as an action. Right now, I have to program that wait and describe it as an action so that everybody knows it is an action that waits eight seconds... That way, somebody who is not familiar with programming processes like "if-else", or "for", or "while", would be able, from the first moment, and without programming, to put some easy-to-use, standardized, actions in place.""Its performance and stability could be better."

More Eggplant Test Cons →

"If the load and bare minimum could be defined, I would give this solution a higher rating.""Automation features are not user-friendly.""ReadyAPI Test needs to improve its reporting. While reports provide essential information when issues arise, or tests fail, having more graphical representations directly within the reports would be beneficial. It needs to improve stability and scalability as well. The tool's support is slow, and takes months to reach a solution.""We tried automation but it's not easy to integrate with the synching and some of the mission tools that we use for automated testing of APIs.""I find that I'm fighting with the opportunities to order requests.""SoapUI Pro is a little heavy due to the number of features. Previously it was not that heavy. Now the tool is too heavy, they should work on fixing this issue because until your system has lots of resources, you won't be able to use it seamlessly. The performance of the application itself could improve.""The documentation needs to be improved because the interface is not easy for a first-time user.""There are no bugs or glitches, but a few features available only in the Pro version could be made available in the open-source version. Some of the features do not necessarily need to be only available to Pro users. The data generator would be really useful for the open-source version users."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is scalable, but it is a matter of money in the pocket. You can scale it, but then you have to have additional licenses. The licensing approach of eggPlant is not the best."
  • "Make a smart decision about the number of developer- and execution-only licenses you purchase to maximize your budget. We found that going heavier on execution-only licenses has been a way to reduce our costs and maximize our ability to benefit from the software."
  • "End-to-end testing isn't possible for us because of the licensing problems. It's very expensive, so we only have two development/execution licenses."
  • "It probably has a yearly license."
  • "This solution is expensive when compared to the market. However, the reason it is more expensive is because of its stability, high performance, and for its support of any technology."
  • "Eggplant Test is a very expensive solution."

  • "The cost is not that bad."
  • "I think the number of users is also limited, considering how much we pay."
  • "My understanding is that the pricing is okay, however, that's taken care of by our procurement team. It's around $5,000 for three years."
  • "The Pro version can be expensive for some companies. There are no costs in addition to the licensing fees."
  • "We have team members who are working in shifts, and it is not possible for us to utilize a single license on a single piece of hardware so that multiple team members can use it. We have to take out multiple licenses for each team member."
  • "SoapUI Pro is open source but it has a subscription-based model which involves some more features. At the moment we are using the free version. The Pro version requires a license, and it is an annual license to use it."
  • "ReadyAPI Test is about $680 per user, per year."
  • "It is free of charge."
