We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""Microsoft Sentinel enables you to ingest data from the entire ecosystem and that connection of data helps you to monitor critical resources and to know what's happening in the environment.""You can fine-tune the SOAR and you'll be charged only when your playbooks are triggered. That is the beauty of the solution because the SOAR is the costliest component in the market today... but with Sentinel it is upside-down: the SOAR is the lowest-hanging fruit. It's the least costly and it delivers more value to the customer.""The most valuable feature is the UEBA. It's very easy for a security operations analyst. It has a one-touch analysis where you can search for a particular entity, and you can get a complete overview of that entity or user.""The solution offers a lot of data on events. It helps us create specific detection strategies.""It has basic out-of-the-box integrations with multiple log sources.""The best functionality that you can get from Azure Sentinel is the SOAR capability. So, you can estimate any type of activity, such as when an alert was triggered or an incident was found.""Another area where it is helping us is in creating a single dashboard for our environment. We can collect all the logs into a log analytics workset and run queries on top of it. We get all the results in the dashboard. Even a layman can understand this stuff. The way Microsoft presents it is really incredible."

"The seamless integration with FortiGate is the solution's most valuable aspect.""The solution’s IP database is awesome.""We find the solution to be stable.""It's easy to manage. There's a web interface and a command line, depending on what the user is comfortable with. There's a large knowledge base available, and the support is timely.""It gives us the opportunity to generate notifications based upon rules that get triggered, and the rules could be specific to PCI, HIPAA, GIBA, NIST, and so forth.""Fortinet FortiSIEM provides good detection against advanced threats.""The most valuable feature is the anomaly-reporting alarms.""FortiSIEM helped us discover all the threats at the time that were attacking the IT services of the company. We now have multiple-level authentication."

"The Sharecon feature is the most valuable.""The solution could be improved by including XDR, remediation and Sandbox.""The product is very user-friendly.""We haven't had any stability issues.""The deployment is quite simple and pretty straightforward.""It is nice to be able to monitor and to have notifications.""The most valuable features for us are the application logs monitoring and the dashboard, which provides a single-pane view of all the ongoing activities.""The reports that you can run are really nice."

Cons
"The reporting could be more structured.""Azure Sentinel will be directly competing with tools such as Splunk or Qradar. These are very established kinds of a product that have been around for the last seven, eight years or more.""The data connectors for third-party tools could be improved, as some aren't available in Sentinel. They need to be available in the data connector panel.""We're satisfied with the comprehensiveness of the security protection. That said, we do have issues sometimes where there have been global outages and we need to raise a ticket with Microsoft.""Microsoft Sentinel is relatively expensive, and its cost should be improved.""While I appreciate the UI itself and the vast amount of information available on the platform, I'm finding the overall user experience to be frustrating due to frequent disconnections and the requirement to repeatedly re-authenticate.""They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"With FortiSIEM, the issue has to do with the ways we can generate a report. It's not as flexible compared to that with other SIEM tools, like Splunk.""Our customers are noticing configuration available in the GUI interface and I think that they should be equal.""Fortinet FortiSIEM is a little out of sight and needs more marketing efforts to be popular in the market.""The performance can be improved. Sometimes it takes a long time to fetch data.""Their product support, in general, is not that great. The product support is in the same ecosystem. Their support is improving but it's not that great.vvv""Does not have load-sharing or high-availability, and these are important things to implement. I can do the same things in another way, but not naturally having these features makes it complicated.""Network detection and response is a separate product.""I would like to see easier implementation in the future."

More Fortinet FortiSIEM Cons →

"Their technical support should be improved.""There is room for improvement, especially in the reporting aspect. The reports are not as good as those in Splunk.""We can log in as a local user, and it's fine, but when we login with an Active Directory user, we cannot.""It's difficult to find which conditions have been applied to a report because they are provided by default by ManageEngine. However, with other SIEMs if you want to create a report, they provide details, like which conditions are triggering certain reports. This needs to be there in ManageEngine. It would be good to know which parameter has been applied to the report that is updating the system.""The matter of the data retention needs to be addressed.""The integration with SharePoint and Teams should be improved.""It takes a little bit of time for Log360 to actually learn your environment.""It is not expensive compared to other solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."
  • More Fortinet FortiSIEM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "There is a cost for each feature used."
  • "Its pricing is definitely huge compared to some of the other SIEMs. Its price should be improved."
  • "My client has a yearly license. I think the cost is not expensive compared to that of other SIEMs, given the service it is providing."
  • "ManageEngine Log360 is expensive compared to other products."
  • "Affordable pricing is provided by the solution."
