We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is PowerPC support.""The solution is a very stable relational database and has integration with legacy systems. It is a great product.""It's the best solution in terms of security, performance, and availability because the system is available 24/7.""IBM Db2 was much cheaper as a package than using other products. This is because IBM supplied a package with its product. It's an application. So it was much more efficient and a stronger competitor in that regard.""Scales well enough for a relational database.""It has a good feature called pureScale, which is just for scalability. It is a perfect solution for environments where scalability is going to be an issue.""The solution has many beneficial features, such as security, support, and stability.""When you submit a ticket the response time is quick."

"It's user-friendly, especially in the logistics field.""It's pretty good at handling a large number of transactions, which is critical for a banking client.""I like that SAP ASE can match code and the database index to index data in the programming language. There are many other valuable features, such as the table buffer, tuning, and various control agents like dispatcher. SAP ASE can handle many different data types, including views, domains, data elements, structures, objects, and various table types that are most useful in the application. Its modularization technique is also handy.""They provide easy integration with other systems.""The actual interface is good.""Provides very good integration.""SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise is a good transactional database.""This is a wonderful database that is, in my opinion, underrated. Users are able to get the most out of my experience by taking advantage of its centralized environment."

Cons
"The application development requires a Java developer and not every company has these resources.""Its process of building up queries could be more accessible.""The management of Db2 should be simplified because there are not too many specialists in this area, and the learning curve of Db2 specialists is very long. After the courses, probably it takes one and a half or two years to get to the point when you are using the product properly in the production systems. So, the complexity is very high, and the most important thing is to simplify the management of the product, including self-maintenance. They should simplify the installation, management, and monitoring to simplify the product. It takes too long for a person to be a specialist in this product.""GUI needs improvement.""In terms of improvements, IBM Db2 can improve its interface and its functionality. Also, the embedded functions should be much richer than the current ones - the functions which are embedded in the engine itself.""When I look at Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server provides me with better tools for database management.""The initial setup could be improved.""Microsoft SQL Server is comparatively very simple to use. I wish IBM would move towards making Db2 easy to use for both basic and advanced users. This is where I see room for advancement. Db2 is also more expensive than Microsoft SQL Server, and its price can be reduced. The replication feature needs to be there in Db2. Microsoft provides similar functionality in SQL Server. IBM also has similar functionality, but it exists in a different product. So, to have the replication ability, you have to buy a different product. It makes sense to have this functionality within Db2 instead of a different product. It will also be helpful in terms of competition. In Africa, the problem for Db2 is competition. Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server have been in this market for a very long time. These companies have built the ecosystem and the brand within this market for a very long time. So, they are very popular with users. Db2 or IBM came a little later in the game, and that's where the problem lies. They also don't do a lot of marketing for it, which is also a problem."

"Cost-wise, SAP is still expensive compared to other available products.""The solution should improve view partitioning. The documentation is very confined and available only for users. Distributors also would like access to it.""I think that the solution needs to be positioned better within the market as it appears as though the Adaptive Server is being left out of the SAP scope.""User interface could be more user friendly.""There could be some improvements in barcode scanning and RFID access.""In my opinion, product support is not that great from SAP because they have already declared the end-of-date for SAP ASE. They will be stopping product support.""SAP should refine its debugging method, and the process needs to be a little faster. It should use more Pragmas and fewer pseudocomments. I would like if SAP added more features based on advanced technologies, like artificial intelligence and voice control. The modularization and if-else techniques could also incorporate the latest technology to code and solve complex problems. The SAP Editor should be more elaborative, and it should allow many more types of statements for all uses.""Because the solution is customized. we do occasionally face unique bugs. There are always some changes that need to be made here and there."
