We performed a comparison between Informatica PowerCenter and webMethods Integration Server based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It has good standard features for ETL development."
"Informatica PowerCenter is very good for integrating a huge amount of data in a very short duration, such as a minute. It is also very easy to use. After you provide the source and the target, mappings are automatically done, which makes it easy to use for the development team."
"One of the most valuable features for us is the metadata repository because it can easily understand the lineage of first target mapping. My company and I also find Informatica really easy to use—when a consultant joins our company, in just a few days to a few weeks, they can understand how to use it—so we prefer to use this ETL tool."
"The number of docs has been reduced drastically, which is very good."
"It provides monitoring and we can therefore be aware of what is happening when we are handling jobs."
"The most valuable feature of Informatica PowerCenter is data transformation and user-friendliness."
"I like the automated scheduling feature."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature of the webMethods Integration Server is the built-in monitoring, auditing, RETS, and SOAP services."
"The tool supports gRPC."
"Best feature is Insight for monitoring, and as a debugging tool. It has saved us a lot of time during crisis situations."
"The ease of mapping... is the single largest feature. It gives us the ability to craft anything. A lot of single-purpose technologies, like Mirth, are good for healthcare messages, but we use webMethods not only for healthcare messages but for other business-related purposes, like integrations to Salesforce or integrations to Office 365. It's multi-purpose nature is very strong."
"The product supports various types of digital documents, including XMLs and EDI."
"One [of the most valuable features] is the webMethods Designer. That helps our developers develop on their own. It's very intuitive for design. It helps our developers to speed the development of services for the integrations."
"They are the building blocks of EAI in SAG products, and they offer a very good platform."
"The most valuable feature of the webMethods Integration Server is its reliability. It has a lot of great documentation from the service providers. Additionally, it is easy to use."
"Integrated Reporting service should be more smoothly transitioned from view to function to be in sync with the main design."
"Unstructured data handling is an important area with a shortcoming that needs improvement in the solution."
"Lacks ability to calculate cost of the product."
"In terms of performance improvement and tuning, there should be a bit more guidance and documentation."
"We had stability issues, mostly with JVM size."
"In the future, I would like to see Informatica PowerCenter integrate a more powerful dashboard."
"I would like to see an improvement in the digital adoption."
"The solution does not scale."
"t doesn't represent OOP very well, just a method and proprietary interface called IData."
"On the monitoring side of things, the UI for monitoring could be improved. It's a bit cumbersome to work with."
"Other products have been using AI and cloud enhancements, but webMethods Integration Server is still lagging in that key area."
"The initial setup of the webMethods Integration Server is not easy but it gets easier once you know it. It is tiresome but not difficult."
"webMethods Integration Server could improve on the version control. I'm not sure if Web Method has some kind of inbuilt integration with Bitbucket or GitHub or some kind of version control system. However, that's one area where they can improve."
"This solution could be improved by offering subscription based licensing."
"The stability of the various modules of the product suite have been a bit of a concern lately. Though their support team is always easy to reach out to, I would prefer it not come to that."
"Version control is not very easy. The packages and the integration server are on Eclipse IDE, but you can't compare the code from the IDE. For example, if you are working on Java code, doing version control and deployment for a quick comparison between the code isn't easy. Some tools or plug-ins are there, such as CrossVista, and you can also play with an SVN server where you have to place your package, and from there, you can check, but you have to do that as a separate exercise. You can't do it from the IDE or webMethods server. You can't just right-click and upload your service."
