Comparison Results: Splunk is highly regarded for its efficient data processing and powerful search capabilities. Users like Splunk's customization options and ability to process data from multiple sources quickly, but reviewers say it could be more intuitive and offer advanced AI capabilities. Logpoint excels at log collection and analysis but would benefit from improvements in its user interface and resource usage.
"It has a lot of great features."
"It has basic out-of-the-box integrations with multiple log sources."
"We are able to deploy within half an hour and we only require one person to complete the implementation."
"The ability of all these solutions to work together natively is essential. We have an Azure subscription, including Log Analytics. This feature automatically acts as one of the security baselines and detects recommendations because it also integrates with Defender. We can pull the sysadmin logs from Azure. It's all seamless and native."
"Having your logs put all in one place with machine learning working on those logs is a good feature. I don't need to start thinking, "Where are my logs?" My logs are in a centralized repository, like Log Analytics, which is why you can't use Sentinel without Log Analytics. Having all those logs in one place is an advantage."
"The initial setup is very simple and straightforward."
"The log query feature has been the most valuable because it's very good. You can put your data on the cloud and run queues from Sentinel. It will do it all very fast. I love that I don't have to upload it to an Excel file and then manually look for a piece of information. Sentinel is much faster and is good for big databases."
"It is easy to implement (turn on) - does need a skilled analyst to develop queries and playbooks."
"The most valuable features are the ones that we use the most, which are the search and report facilities."
"The main advantage of Logpoint is the support service. They reply within ten minutes to an hour to our queries."
"Log collection, dashboards and reporting are good."
"We like the user and entity behaviour analytics (UEBA) and find it valuable."
"The search feature is valuable. The dashboards are also valuable for our bosses. Another valuable feature, which is the main feature of the product, is the centralization of all the logs."
"What I like best about LogPoint is its cost-effectiveness compared to other solutions. LogPoint also has better dashboards which I find valuable. I also like that you can create use cases based on your assets."
"The solution offers excellent reporting features. Our customers have been satisfied that they have been able to meet their compliance needs by giving them a standard report."
"The solution is user-friendly."
"Recently, Splunk upgraded to version 9.0.02, which includes excellent data dashboards and visualization effects."
"Splunk's advantage is its search capability. Its search is notably faster. With Splunk, I can search easily on keywords. That is great."
"We were able to create a catalog of dashboards and have a holistic view at all levels. We could understand our business much better. Real-time errors, which were buried in emails before now, surfaced up on dashboards."
"We can easily configure things as required in relation to our use cases."
"The technical support has been very good. They are very responsive and have been helpful."
"Splunk's visualizations make it easy for users to understand the data."
"The best part of Splunk Enterprise Security is its customizable settings."
"The client site login is pretty extensible and probably cost-effective."
"In terms of features I would like to see in future releases, I'm interested in a few more use cases around automation. I do believe a lot of automation is available, and more is in progress, but that would be my area of interest."
"Microsoft Defender has a built-in threat expert option that enables you to contact an expert. That feature isn't available in Sentinel because it's a huge product that integrates all the technologies. I would like Microsoft to add the threat expert option so we can contact them. There are a few other features, like threat assessment that the PG team is working on. I expect them to release this feature in the next quarter."
"Sentinel provides decent visibility, but it's sometimes a little cumbersome to get to the information I want because there is so much information. I would also like to see more seamless integration between Sentinel and third-party security products."
"Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized."
"If you're looking to use canned queries, the interface could be a little more straightforward. It's not immediately intuitive regarding how you use it. You have to take a canned query and paste it into an operational box and then you hit a button... They could improve the ease of deploying these queries."
"Add more out-of-the-box connectors with other SaaS platforms/applications."
"The KQL query does not function effectively with Windows 11 machines, and in the majority of machine-based investigations, KQL queries are essential for organizing the data during investigations."
"We have been working with multiple customers, and every time we onboard a customer, we are missing an essential feature that surprisingly doesn't exist in Sentinel. We searched the forums and knowledge bases but couldn't find a solution. When you onboard new customers, you need to enable the data connectors. That part is easy, but you must create rules from scratch for every associated connector. You click "next," "next," "next," and it requires five clicks for each analytical rule. Imagine we have a customer with 150 rules."
"I know that they have user behavior analytics, but it's an extra cost for this feature. It would be nice if it was in with the standard products."
"LogPoint must find a way to integrate the servers without agents."
"The interface needs things like wizards that will assist with creating complex correlation rules."
"One of the things we faced last year was that we had some memory issues with the server running. We were running them as virtual services, and we were facing some performance issues. Back then, there were some things that had already been solved at the end, but one of the small issues we had was that it was quite memory-consuming. After one upgrade that we did, we faced some performance issues."
"Logpoint is not flexible. Its documentation is not user-friendly."
"The thing that makes it a little bit challenging is when you run into a situation where you have logs that are not easily parsable. If a log has a very specific structure, it is very easy to parse and create a parser for it, but if a log has a free form, meaning that it is of any length or it can change at any time, handling such a log is very challenging, not just in LogPoint but also in everything else. Everybody struggles with that scenario, and LogPoint is also in the same boat. One-third of logs are of free form or not of a specific length, and you can run into situations where it is almost impossible to parse the log, even if they try to help you. It is just the nature of the beast."
"In terms of functionality, it is very good. The only issue is the documentation. Its documentation should be improved."
"Log management could be better because transporting the log from a password to the client system takes time."
"I find that the learning curve for Splunk is relatively lengthy."
"The prices are complicated as we operate in a small third-world country."
"The solution could improve by making it more business analysis oriented. The way it is now is designed more for developers."
"It's difficult to set up initially, and their billing model is also a bit complicated."
"It needs more thoroughly tested releases. Every new big version (6, 7, etc.) has had so many bugs that it makes me wary of customers upgrading right away."
"The ingestion happens quickly, so you can run up the data costs if you use the default settings. It isn't a problem for government agencies in the Saudi market, but many of the corporations in India are small or medium-sized enterprises that cannot afford that kind of ingestion system."
"The search could be improved. Now, it is a bit difficult to write search queries because they become quite long, then maintaining those long search queries is a quite challenging."
"The GUI can be improved to include some of the capabilities that other BI solutions have."
