We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is a stable solution...The initial setup of Oracle Enterprise Manager was straightforward.""It's user friendly.""We use Oracle Enterprise Manager for a lot of services like ERP and PLM.""Oracle Enterprise Manager has eased the responsibilities among our DBAs. We can now assign individual tasks to separate DBAs.""With ASH Analytics, ADDM, Real-Time SQL Monitoring, SQL Tuning Advisor, we can measure SLAs, detect performance hotspots, perform deep diagnostics into specific tiers, tune applications, and remediate.""The solution is easy to use and has good performance.""I rate Oracle Enterprise Manager eight out of 10 for stability.""I mostly use the top events, and look at how the execution is happening on the database; and monitoring the cluster level rates. I even look at the execution plan."

"I haven't seen any issues with scalability. We have about 1000 people on our IT team who use the solution.""It is very easy to manage all of the objects.""The best product for working with Oracle databases for support, checking and loading data.""The tool evaluates non-optimized queries and generates the queries in a way that is more optimal - in addition to giving us some good practices for code development.""A quite simple feature that I have not encountered elsewhere is the "Make Code" feature. I can easily export a complex SQL statement to a programming language. This is a great timesaver as I do not have to type in all of the escape/concatenation characters just to create a SQL statement in C# or C++.""Simply the best GUI software for administration is the most valuable aspect for me.""I like that it's very flexible and helpful in query accuracy, analysis, and data visualization. I also like the move facilities available in Toad for Oracle. Overall, I think it's a fantastic product for analyzing SQL queries and managing all kinds of queries.""Toad for Oracle has proven to be better than other tools since we have never experienced any crashes."

Cons
"The solution is considered expensive.""There are limited numbers of other OEM devices that can be integrated into enterprise management that can be scaled by Oracle by adding other OEM devices to enterprise management.""Oracle Enterprise Manager's scalability is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required.""The solution is not as simple as people say it is.""Better mobile access would be useful.""The deployment is not straightforward.""The interface could be more friendly for basic users.""Patching. It's extremely difficult to determine what requires patching and the process to patch each component is slightly different."

More Oracle Enterprise Manager Cons →

"Improvement wise, for the user it should show the minimum features on the screen and not all the features. Toad has a lot of features, but most users will use only 5 or 10 based on their role. Nobody needs all the features, and they should provide the option to choose only the required features. Only minimum requirements should be enabled by default. When all the features are shown, the performance is not good; it loads slowly and has hundreds of popups and unnecessary questions.""Sometimes it works in some areas, but in others, it doesn't. Like when you copy, you find that it's blank and doesn't copy anything. So, there are some objects that do copy, and sometimes they don't.""Toad for Oracle does not have a particular resolution within the application.""An area where the solution could use some improvement is in terms of user-friendliness. During the initial setup phase, the solution was not very intuitive when attempting to establish connections.""There may be an issue with processing limitations but this cannot be confirmed as a problem with the product or with the newest releases.""I'd like reporting to be more available. If it was a feature that was already installed, more people would take advantage of it.""Once in a while, I may encounter a memory exception and have to abort the application. On a few occasions, the file that stores the saved connections for the New Connection window will become corrupt and I will lose all of my saved connections. I am not sure if that is a Windows or TOAD issue, but it has happened to all of my developers at some point or another.""In future releases, the product can be more intuitive. It has to be lighter than what it is because sometimes it is not responding quickly. If I do some features at the same time, it's not supporting. I have to wait sometimes to get the action. It's dependent on the resources of the workstation, but it has to be improved in this area. The faster processing is needed."

    Reviews from Real Users

Oracle Enterprise Manager stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Several major ones are its central management and monitoring and its reporting capabilities

Robin C., head of Oracle Exadata Centre of Excellence at Tata Consultancy Services, writes, "The database performance monitoring features are very useful and allow us to quickly zero in on DB-related issues. Exadata storage server and Infiniband switches can be viewed from the GUI in OEM which cannot be done in other tools. The ability to deploy metric extensions makes this tool extensible for our custom monitoring also."

PeerSpot users note the effectiveness of these features. A database manager at a tech services company notes, “The solution's most valuable aspect is the fact that it is embedded with the Oracle database and Oracle's engineering system, its extra data, and analytics.  They have plug-ins that are very helpful. Due to the infrastructure's size, the introduction they offer is very, very useful. It helps with an overall understanding of the product. They have a very nice graphical user interface. The monitoring is good. We can capture the SQL tune from us. With Oracle Enterprise Managers, we can see the rich performance tuning.”

With Toad for Oracle, you'll reduce costs and risks by easily ensuring the health and performance of your Oracle Cloud Platform and on-premises databases. ... On the operations side, you can automate administration tasks and proactively manage your databases while embracing performance optimization and risk mitigation.
