We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features are around consolidations, eliminations, conversions.""It is a very user-friendly software.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""Financial consolidation and reporting tool with good built-in features such as currency exchange and elimination.""The most valuable feature is the flexibility and ease of configuration in terms of testing and formula creation.""The tool is stable.""You can bring in data from any source and from multiple sources, and you can consolidate that data in HFM."

"Scalability is one of this solution's big plus points.""The accuracy of data gathering and consolidation is very good.""It's a very good program and it's useful for consolidation.""The implementation has been simplified now that it's deployed in the cloud. Also, Hyperion is tightly integrated with Oracle products because Oracle owns it now.""Oracle Hyperion is fairly user-friendly and not too complicated. The forecasting, it's really good. It's sometimes slow when there are a lot of users using it and we can have up to approximately 300 users using it. However, you can do it in Excel because there's an Excel add-in. This is a benefit because a lot of people do this way instead of having to go into the planning application itself.""Smart View is a really useful tool because we can have a good API with HFM.""It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete.""Since it is an enterprise-capable solution, people are not worried about security, giving data, the ability to manage complex consolidation, and its ability to modify reporting."

Cons
"It's a difficult process to try to edit, configure, or change the business rules that exist and work within HFM.""If there could be data integration between HFM and the accounting software that would be ideal.""In terms of improvement, one challenge with Oracle HFM is the need for technical knowledge in writing SQL syntax for custom extensions.""Integration is an area where it lacks and can be improved.""The solution has integration challenges. We need a simple tool that is fool-proof for the data that is submitted not only for consolidation purposes but also for performance management and reporting purposes.""The intercompany reporting function in this tool needs improvement, particularly being able to run reports in batches, rather than one at a time.""The complexity is okay. I don't see it as super complex. The solution could have more functionality to make it a little bit more flexible."

More Oracle HFM Cons →

"There's something known as a data block that Hyperion generates for each and every transaction. Sometimes it does not generate and we need to identify those issues and fix them manually.""Integrating Oracle Hyperion, a multidimensional database, with relational databases poses challenges due to the differing database structures.""The reporting feature in Oracle Hyperion isn't the best. It needs improvement.""Configuration is a little complex, it's not very easy. The solution is integrated with Essbase and there are not many users of the Essbase database. If they can provide different modules for each subject area, like supply chain, for inventory forecasting or for order management forecasting, it would make each subject area easier to manage.""All the planning systems out there are great. It doesn't matter which company you use. They're all great. I've seen demonstrations on a number of them, but it all boils down to the culture within the organization itself to use that functionality, understand it, and help drive it. I've had Oracle salespeople do demonstrations, and it looked really good. We get it on board, and everybody still sticks to their Excel spreadsheets because companies are a lot more complex than what you could deliver on the planning system. So, there should be more education on the capabilities, and there should be more understanding of organizations in terms of the way they access the data in order to plan.""What I like is to have everything on one platform and not in different modules like Oracle Hyperion.""I would love more comment capabilities so that you could put in little notes, cheat notes.""I would like to see more integrations with third-party vendors such as BigSense and SAP. I'm looking forward to seeing more interface-related content."
