Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Rapid7's reporting is more robust than Tenable's.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten. As a cloud tool, the product is highly scalable.""Very intuitive and easy to set up.""The UI is very good.""Intelligent alerting to avoid the common problem of alert fatigue associated with traditional SIEMs.""The solution provides satisfying native integration features""InsightIDR’s ability to process millions of transactions per day, and to notify me of the most critical ones, is priceless. InsightIDR has the alerts tuned, and has the ability to quickly drill down to determine the threat level.""Rapid7 InsightIDR integrates well with other solutions. It's also easy to configure because Rapid7 InsightIDR has a lot of instructions posted on their website that customers can follow if they need to get the source log."

"The solution appears to be stable, although we haven't used it heavily.""The most valuable features are its data aggregation and the ability to automatically identify a number of threats, then suggest recommended actions upon them.""This intelligent user behavior analytics package is easy to configure and use while remaining feature filled.""The solution is definitely scalable.""The product is at the forefront of auto-remediation networking. It's great.""The solution is fast, flexible, and easy to use.""The most valuable feature is being able to take data and put it into other systems so that we could see the output, and to see where we need to apply our focus.""The most valuable features are the indexing and powerful search features."

Cons
"I would like to see more development in InsightIDR towards building their SIEM solution and converting it to XDR.""Cloud risk assessment is one area where I think they need a lot of improvement.""Tenable Nessus is easier to deal with. It's more efficient and accurate. InsightIDR is heavier than Tenable in terms of performance and scanning. Rapid7 would be much easier to use if it had a network connector like Tenable. Tenable's connector allows continuous monitoring over the B caps.""Lacks a mobile application.""I feel it would greatly benefit from more supported log sources.""The product allows us to make only 30 custom rules.""Needs a better ability to customize the check within the console.""The reporting is the weakest aspect. There needs to be multi-level grouping for events (for example, group by user and destination). Right now, we can do a group by user and a separate table or group by destination. But I'd be more interested in where a person was logging into instead of who was logging in or where he was logging in."

More Rapid7 InsightIDR Cons →

"The price of Splunk UBA is too high.""In the future I would like to see simplified statistics and analytical threats.""There are occasional bugs.""We'd like the ability to do custom searches.""Currently, a lot of network operations need improvement. We still need people to handle incidents. Our vision is to leverage status and convert it directly from the network devices. It would be ideal if we could take action using APIs and API code and remove manual processes.""It would be good if the solution had an analytics tool that allowed us to analyze the data without writing specific queries.""It could be easier to scale the solution if you are using it on-premise, not in the cloud.""They should work to add more built-in correlation searches and more use cases based on worldwide customer experiences. They need more ready-made use cases."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am sure that there are cheaper products out there, but none that meet so many of our needs whilst maintaining stability and usability."
  • "The team is very willing to work with companies. My suggestion is to call the Rapid7 sales department and see how they can help."
  • "Licensing is straightforward. If, for some reason, you don’t meet the minimum licensing requirements, there is a third-party managed service that can help."
  • "Accurately predict your licensing counts as this is a subscription based product."
  • "The pricing and licensing are competitive."
  • "Licensing is by endpoint and amount of retention time (at least ours is). Default retention was one year, but we are able to push the retention further if needed. There's also a provide-your-own-S3 option for longer retention if you don't want to pay for the additional retention years in your Rapid7 agreement."
  • "It is a reasonably priced solution."
  • "It is on a yearly basis. For our own company, for about 250 users, it was 16,000 euros a year."
  • More Rapid7 InsightIDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I hope we can increase the free license to be more than 5 gig a day. This would help people who want to introduce a POC or a demo license for the solution."
  • "My biggest complaint is the way they do pricing... You can never know the pricing for next year. Every single time you adjust to something new, the price goes up. It's impossible to truly budget for it. It goes up constantly."
  • "There are additional costs associated with the integrator."
  • "The licensing costs is around 10,000 dollars."
  • "Pricing varies based on the packages you choose and the volume of your usage."
  • "I am not aware of the price, but it is expensive."

Top Answer:The solution's most valuable feature is Splunk queries, which allow us to query the logs and analyze the attack vectors.
Top Answer:I am not aware of the price, but it is expensive. A rough estimate would be around 150 gigabytes, given the huge amount of data. At the moment there are no additional costs for maintenance.
