We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"GoAnywhere stands out for its user-friendly project creation, intuitive testing and troubleshooting, and especially its notification system, which keeps me informed of any issues that need attention, a feature we lacked before.""It enabled us to allocate staff toward other work. All the time that we would have wasted worrying about this stuff and correcting problems is put into other parts of our job. That's one of the best things about it, is that we don't waste time on these projects. We just don't have to worry about them because it lets us know if there's a problem.""When users say, 'I'm building spreadsheets that I would like to be uploaded on a regular basis into the IBM i,' we are able to accommodate that request within a matter of hours rather than the days it would take to create programs to do that. That is very useful. It has eliminated several dozens of scripts for us.""We also use the Secure Folders module and the Web Client a lot. For example, we set up external vendors to come in and review files or folders in a Secure Folder. That way they can go in and review whatever information or data they need to do.""It is very easy to use. It is easy to create projects in a graphical environment. The configuration and the setup of the environment is very easy""Another nice feature is that you can invoke a native program from GoAnywhere. That helps you because you don't have to get fancy with agents. If a native program runs on the server that GoAnywhere is running on, like sed or perl, you can use it,""The most valuable feature is the Advanced Workflows.""GoDrive eliminates the need to use the exchange server for file sharing."

"Triggers are something that is very useful as they automate the use of boilerplate code, and we can define certain functionality of certain tasks also.""The tool can transfer files of any size and type without any issue.""We receive customized email notifications and alerts regarding user activities and the number of login attempts.""It offers audit trails and reporting tools, allowing users to track file transfers, monitor user activities, and produce regulatory compliance reports.""Automating and managing the file transfer using JSCAPE has decreased the manual interventions necessary and increased the organization's efficiency and productivity.""One of the standout features of this particular tool is its automation capabilities.""It is a reliable and easy-to-operate platform for secure file transfers.""The product's most valuable feature is the high availability clustering."

Cons
"I want to be able to use GoAnywhere to create customizable reports that I can share with the MSP containing any information related to file transfers.""The security could be upgraded to address novel cyberattacks. I'm not sure whether the product's security is being updated periodically.""Improvement in support or product relies on being ingenious, supportive, and listening to its customer base.""The product could be improved by being modular. There are more features in the core product than any client needs.""There's not a lot of improvement I can think of. Maybe in the tools section, they have an SQL Wizard and a URL Wizard, which are really good. I think that the SQL Wizard might need some improvement. I don't know how to improve it, but it's just a little slow here and there.""One of the things that I wish is to not necessarily have to set up a username and password for people with whom we don't frequently share files. For instance, if I want to share files with a patient who is not somebody with whom we share files all the time, I would like them to somehow verify who they are and be able to push the file to them. I shouldn’t have to set them up as a user with a password. It should be almost like Dropbox.""The security features must be updated regularly.""In some scenarios, when you are in a cluster environment, the load-balancing capabilities of the gateway need to be improved a little. This functionality needs some improvement."

More Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT Cons →

"The JSCAPE team could create detailed documents or blogs on how to troubleshoot certain errors that come over in integration with existing environment tools.""The initial setup is time-consuming; it could use a video tutorial.""The initial setup and configuration are time-consuming.""The user interface (UI) could be improved.""Iteratively enhancing the user interface could help with streamlining workflows to make them more intuitive and user-friendly.""The cost of the tool is relatively high and can pose a problem to medium and small-scale companies who are trying to overcome their on-premise server limitations.""The FTP/S and ad-hoc techniques can further be automated.""The price is too high and the product line is too complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Licensing can be expensive and it depends upon which features you want to buy."
  • "Pricing is based on a one-time license."
  • "It would be good for the company to explore a modular approach to selling the product so it could be cheaper and more attractive to users."
  • "For what we pay to GoAnywhere every year, we are getting a fantastic deal. From a dollar perspective, it provides very good value."
  • "The cost of GoAnywhere versus the value it brings to our data transfer operations is reasonable... The cost is relatively expensive but, back to the car analogy, that's to be expected with a Ferrari."
  • "I get the invoices, and its price is fine and appropriate. It is well priced. Even if it was double the price, we'd use it. For us, it is indispensable. We're not going to go anywhere else. There are no additional costs. Its licensing is good. There is just one charge that we get. That's it."
  • "To have a solution like this for the price we're paying makes it cheap. Considering the time that it has saved us, and considering the development that we don't need to do, such as connectors and handling servers, the price is really affordable."
  • "HelpSystems GoAnywhere MFT is very reasonably priced for the value it brings."
