We performed a comparison between KerioControl and Splunk User Behavior Analytics based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Intrusion Detection and Prevention Software (IDPS) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The firewall appliance itself is the most valuable feature."
"The reporting needs to be improved. It is hard to get a domain."
"What I like the most about Kerio is that I can use the software appliance as a solution, so if the hardware fails for any reason then I can quickly replace it with hardware that I have in stock."
"The comprehensiveness of the security features that Kerio Control provides us with is good. Before GFI had it, they would have more updates. The updates have been slower, but I like the things that they keep adding like the ability to block by country. I use pretty much every feature."
"Kerio Control is easy to use and provides the ability to deliver customized solutions."
"The firewall and intrusion detection features are very useful these days because hackers have a lot of tricks that they use to get into a system. With Kerio Control you can see something that's happening. Otherwise, you have to use other tools to see what's happening on the firewalls. Having IPS in it is quite useful for us."
"The product is easy to use."
"The solution is easy to manage. Kerio Control is unique compared to other firewalls because it has been around since 2000 when we switched and the name it started with was WinRoute, and then later became Kerio Control. It evolved over time and it is more of a proprietary firewall on its own and has been developed through open source."
"This intelligent user behavior analytics package is easy to configure and use while remaining feature filled."
"The solution is extremely scalable. Our customers are regularly scaling up after installing Splunk."
"Because of some of the visualizations that we utilize, we are able to understand strange, unusual traffic on our networks."
"The solution is fast, flexible, and easy to use."
"The most valuable features are its data aggregation and the ability to automatically identify a number of threats, then suggest recommended actions upon them."
"We are really pleased with Splunk and its features. It would be practically impossible to function without it. To provide a general overview of the system, it's important to note that the standard log files are currently around 250 gigabytes per day. It would be impossible to manually walk through these logs by hand, which is why automation is essential."
"The product is at the forefront of auto-remediation networking. It's great."
"The most valuable feature is being able to take data and put it into other systems so that we could see the output, and to see where we need to apply our focus."
"I find it a bit costly to pay for the products that I am not using. They need to change their model in such a way that you don't have to pay for the products that you are not using. Its local support and scalability are also not good. I am looking forward to a more scalable product that will be able to grow with time and technology."
"My experience with the solutions technical support is fine but they could be faster in responding."
"The security part of the software, like virus scanning, website, traffic monitoring, things like that, can take a beating on the appliance. And when there's a lot of things going on, the system can get bogged down. The actual security functionality of it needs a little bit more work, which I believe they are remedying or attempting to remedy at this time, but that's the downfall at this time."
"The trial duration of the product should be extended."
"When we did our last update, we had some trouble with the initial syncing process to get our messaging to go through. But we were also moving a store and a lot was changing during that process. I don't think it was on Kerio's end. It just coincided with the update. Once we got our third-party IT guy involved it was resolved very quickly."
"They don't provide content filtering when it comes to search engine results. We had an incident on the network where a blocked site was showing up in search results. We are in a school environment, so we have blocked a site with some of the explicit content so that kids wouldn't see it. When one of them did a search, the results came on the search engine part. When you try to drill down to the website, it blocks, but when you search by image, it brings up all the images. That's one of the reasons why we are looking at Juniper."
"The product's technical support is not good as it used to be."
"The reporting needs to be improved. It is hard to get a domain."
"The ability to do more complicated data investigation would be a welcome addition for pros, though the functionality now gives most people what they need."
"In the future I would like to see simplified statistics and analytical threats."
"The initial setup was complex because some of the configurations that we required needed customization."
"I would like improved downward integration with other tools such as McAfee and other GCP solutions."
"The price of Splunk UBA is too high."
"There are occasional bugs."
"They should work to add more built-in correlation searches and more use cases based on worldwide customer experiences. They need more ready-made use cases."
"I'm not aware of any lacking features."
