The user administration is straightforward, and the restore is quick and easy. All software has bugs. VMware vCenter is one of the standards of virtualization in the market for on-premises. I would recommend the solution to other users. After its merger with Broadcom, the solution's license price has become costlier, and the previously available customizations are no longer available. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

VMware provides visibility into the deployed infrastructure but does not directly address security concerns. For security-related tasks, VMware offers a separate solution called VMware NSX. NSX provides micro-segmentation and visibility into East-West traffic to enhance security measures. Maintaining VMware vCenter is cost-effective. VMware provides regular security updates. It's important to consistently apply these updates and patches to ensure the security and stability of the environment. Additionally, there may be optional add-ons available for specific requirements or enhanced functionality. I recommend the solution. VMware vCenter has several advantages: ease of use, site integration, simplicity, and excellent visibility into virtualized environments. It offers straightforward management and scalability. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

We utilize a call API to assess system resources and inquire about available memory. Depending on the response received, we either proceed with the deployment or send error notifications. Additionally, we connect with external systems via APIs to verify compliance with internal policies and methodologies. This streamlined approach has enhanced our VM deployment and management efficiency. Initially, we encountered challenges with local backups, particularly regarding efficiency and capacity limitations, notably with McAfee. We recently leveraged the function for recovery purposes, which uses an online snapshot copy. While this approach is effective for short-term recovery needs, it needs to catch up regarding long-term data retention due to the large backup capacity requirements. Additionally, while useful for capturing point-in-time data, the snapshot functionality may need to be more suitable for comprehensive backup strategies. Despite these limitations, we've found that application integrations, such as with SQL, have been beneficial in enhancing our backup and recovery processes. I rate VMware vCenter an eight out of ten.
The GUI interface for the monitoring tool is good. We have VMware security features integrated, which is beneficial. Data encryption and robust infrastructure are additional advantages. One feature is DRS which manages virtual machines. Thus, it migrates virtual machines, adjusting the resources in the background. Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
I advise others to create an account on the VMware Partner Portal, where they can access trial versions of vCenter. Utilize the 60-day trial period to explore and test the hypervisor. Later, make a purchase decision depending on the budget and business use cases. I rate it a nine out of ten.
We use the product to take snapshots before undertaking updates or upgrades, ensuring a failback mechanism in case of issues. Additionally, when performing maintenance on the physical equipment where VMs reside, vCenter facilitates system transfer to hardware unaffected by the update. It helps with the placement of hosts in maintenance mode, execution of update tasks, and reintegration into the environment. It provides fault tolerance capabilities. We can easily integrate it with Rubrik, a third-party tool. It is an easy technology to learn. I rate it a ten out of ten.
I would recommend it to others considering implementation, particularly if they have a sufficient budget. However, for those with budget constraints, there are alternative solutions, including open-source options, albeit not as comprehensive as VMware. Overall, I would rate it eight out of ten.
I would advise that at least you should be very well aware of all the functionalities you are going to offer to your customers. Then, you should see whether those functionalities are there in the vCenter server and working as per the documentation provided by VMware. You should be very well aware of it. One example is the fault tolerance problem. Although VMware said it was fine, practically, we haven't seen it working as expected. So features need to be identified in advance before choosing vCenter server. Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten because I'm very much happy with all the features provided by vCenter.
VMware vCenter provides excellent flexibility in terms of managing virtual infrastructure. We can provision services anytime. We can easily create a distribution suite and manage networks. I rate the platform's efficiency for multicluster operations an eight out of ten. I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.
The vendor must bundle more software into vCenter. Network Insight and vROps must not cost us additionally. It should be bundled with the solution. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.
VMware vCenter is a centralized management tool designed to streamline virtual infrastructure operations and simplify the management of multiple hosts and virtual machines.
