Pros
"The archiving feature is the most valuable aspect of the solution.""The ability to migrate between media over a long period of time. My customers are long-time users, and they have benefited from being able to move between tiers. They have been able to do this within the product.""You can protect your data and keep it for long durations, without it spending too much time on the local disk.""Some of the people in our group, like our DBAs and non-technical people, can restore some stuff themselves via Spectrum Protect. That is how simple it is.""Incremental forever: This feature helps us reduce backup time and backup storage space.""We can use it with any storage for the back-end to save data.""In general, the solution is quite user-friendly. The GUI is very nice.""The most valuable feature is the backup speed."

"The feature I find most valuable is the offload to Spectrum Protect for long-term retention. I think the deduplication and replication are quite nice on Plus.""Virtual snapshots that offer incremental backups.""Some of the features we find very valuable and use a lot, are retention sets.""Using this tool, we can easily backup and restore or recover the data for PCs and mobiles in case of system crashes.""The solution is scalable and can be fitted for any customer.""The most valuable feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is its ease of use. Additionally, it does backups of all of the things we need, such as OS, files, and databases.""The support from IBM is very good.""The tool has enough documentation; you don't need to contact the support team."

Cons
"I am looking forward to new features in the next release. One of the main features is the cloud storage integration, which was one of my main required features. I've had more difficult experiences with other platforms than with this one.""IBM's support hasn't been so good in the last few years.""We did not see any drawbacks to IBM Spectrum Protect before assisting a customer using Windows that wanted to migrate to using UNIX. IBM Spectrum Protect does not offer an option to migrate from other operating systems.""I think Spectrum Protect's interface is not so user-friendly, but the interface is not so friendly. Some of the functions are too complicated. I prefer a simpler solution.""It has a lot of areas for improvement. Its reporting for job completion or incompletion can be improved. It should also provide a granular recovery, ease of operation, data life cycle management, and media management. It should support a backup in such a format that in case of a disaster, one can start the virtual machine out of the backup itself. Its reliability can also be better. It is also expensive, and their support is also poor.""The solution should improve the ability to monitor backup failure.""The solution needs to work on disaster recovery integration. Basically, VMware applications to the cloud, for example. There needs to be integration with the storage, and integration with VMware.""Restoring massive files is a very time-consuming process."

"IBM Spectrum Protect Plus could improve security.""Their first level of support can be improved. Often they are too junior to understand the issues we are having, and it takes too much time to get from them to the next level of support, which is what we actually need.""I would like integration into where the VMware guys can do their own restores.""The backup support for IBM Power Virtualization needs to be added.""The user experience is very bad and the interface needs to be improved.""Rooms for improvement in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus are installation and configuration because those were difficult. They should try their best to improve those areas. In the next release of the product, better implementation and administration are what we're expecting.""There could be better integration with Spectrum Protect and Spectrum Protect Plus, it should be one solution.""The replication feature is not available."
