Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Scalable, stable, and easy to deploy APM tool which effectively monitors code-level visibility.""The configuration and the manager tool are good features.""The way these tools show the information is very useful. this is a tool that records information from Java and .NET applications, and obtain information about how many times an method has been call in a period of time (usually 30 sec), how many times respond in this span of time or is delayed or stall.""Service maturity when you can retrieve the normal metrics for every major aspect of each module and delivering this info to the correct eyes.""Enables me to monitor multiple servers, applications, resources, and users""It's a very stable product.""We use it to create dashboards and executive view dashboards, so our higher up managers can take a look and see where our application status stands.""For me, the most valuable feature is being able to check memory patterns. We check them when we do load testing or soak testing to see if there are any memory leaks."

"The most valuable feature is the ability to Drill down to webpage actions.""The availability of the solution is its most valuable aspect. I can also Google anything I want and upload it on the cloud. I can do that using the mobile app. It is very helpful.""The customers requires redundancy work to achieve a 99.999% uptime. To accomplish this, we installed this solution into storage. This setup ensures that if one node goes down, the system remains operational through another node. So that's the core aspect of the setup. Additionally, the schedule and the rental database run on servers, and behind these servers, we have storage. This storage operates as a single storage cluster, although there might be another storage option that costs around $30.""ORUEI lets you create a dashboard that shows you insight into the user experience."

Cons
"Its profiling. The uniqueness instead of me looking at sampling data, I need to know the m-1 event that actually triggered my scenario where that m event caused a catastrophic event, like a ripple effect; I need to know that m-1. What triggered my major event means I need to understand the event that triggered it and before the cause of that event itself.""A CA APM agent takes a lot of memory. That is one disadvantage. If you configure CA APM correctly it will still consume around 15 to 20 percent of memory.""Broadcom DX Application Performance Management could improve its supportability to the current technologies and the end-to-end correlation feature should be done automatically without custom configurations. Additionally, there should not be any configuration changes to the client-side when deploying the solution.""The interface is getting a little old.""User Experience is a BIG one. Integration of all of APM components into one swift deployment.""Needs the ability to dynamically create dashboards. Right now, we do custom dashboards. Everything is created manually.""I would like them provide more guidance on specific tuning of monitoring options to avoid unacceptable overhead.""Support could be much better."

"There are instances of imitation, like with processors. As customers, we aim to develop this area, particularly focusing on the networking facility and connectivity. The challenge lies in the connection between the DC and MDR, which is quite distant. The link between them needs to be reliable. When direct fiber isn't available, they resort to using dark fiber, which can lead to some limitations. This situation presents another layer of complexity, requiring approximately 11 feet of additional infrastructure. This is essential for ensuring that applications have minimal latency. In the event of any issues, an account is set up for cache memory to ensure that the system remains operational and can recover data from the cache as needed. Additionally, I have a secondary aspect to consider.""It would be nice if the solution could be integrated with Outlook. If I'm signing any quotation, any proposal, or any of my communications, I should be able to update that Oracle application as well.""Currently, it monitors web applications well, but ORUEI doesn't monitor mobile applications yet. It would be nice if they also added the ability to monitor mobile apps.""The application resource usage has increased due to using RUEI."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Depends on the size of the product you need."
  • "Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
  • "There is some research needed to determine licensing costs, based on the number of DataPower instances for the Nastel agent, for example."
  • "Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
  • "Pricing and licensing are not issues."
  • "On pricing, CA is very competitive. I think that's going to help in the long run."
  • "Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
  • "Dynatrace is the most expensive of these tools followed by AppDynamics which is "medium-expensive." CA APM is a bit lower in price than either Dynatrace or AppDynanics... In my opinion, if you can afford it, go for AppDynamics instead of CA APM."
