Nakivo is praised for its offsite backup to Synology NAS and seamless cloud integration. Dell Avamar could improve its tape connectivity and bare-metal restoration. Users also requested better Azure backups and a more user-friendly interface. Nakivo could benefit from improvements in its remote upgrade capabilities, SNMP features, and application backup.

Nakivo is a powerful, cost-effective solution that seamlessly integrates with the cloud, but it could use some enhancements in its SNMP features and remote upgrading functionality.
"Scheduling is valuable. It does a good job of backing up, and it does a good job of restoring. Nobody has got a problem with that. The agents are well supported."
"Easy to configure and highly reliable for backup."
"The solution scales well."
"Source based deduplication is the most attractive feature as it drastically reduces the backup window."
"The solution is very stable."
"The most valuable feature of Avamar would have to be the way it works over needing very little bandwidth to move data across a WAN or LAN."
"It's a good solution."
"The data reduction feature and the ease of enabling a server in a DR location are the most valuable."
"The product is easy to manage for any IT person who is new to backup, recovery, and replication."
"The solution has a user-friendly interface and is easy to configure."
"This solution was surprisingly easy to configure."
"The solution is stable; there is no need to retry any sort of jobs in daily operations."
"Every new version has got some tweaks and improvements in stability and speed."
"The implementation of Nakivo made it possible to implement the information security policies currently in force in the company and to meet the statutory requirements in the field of IT security."
"The ability to restore in a catastrophic event is priceless, since every company must use a backup solution of some sort."
"The product license and support delivery have been great!"
"Setup and deployment of this solution is complex and requires expert engineers."
"Some customers need to back up to tape, but Avamar lacks support, so it costs a lot."
"Dell hasn't done a good job at handling these upgrades, or the way EMC used to handle them."
"The user interface needs to be improved. It's not as good as it could be."
"The client caches and deduplication system have a few problems."
"The support is very bad."
"It is very scalable, and that's its claim to fame, but that also makes it hard to make changes. Anytime there is a large piece of software, changing that piece of software is harder. You've got a larger install base, so you can't just rapidly change. We also use another product called Veeam, and it has this new feature called Continuous Data Protection, which basically lets you get very close to the way the system was in time. We have a system or two up there on which we have set 10 minutes Continuous Data Protection. So, we can roll it back to whatever it was 10 minutes ago, 20 minutes ago, or 30 minutes ago. This feature doesn't exist in Avamar Data Domain. That's the one feature I'd like to see first."
"The solution could improve by having better integration and more flexibility."
"In the loading of a backup, choosing what to restore seems to be a lengthy process, but it has always worked in my restore tests."
"When you schedule some jobs, you should be able to see a list of the jobs contained within each. You have to open up the editor to see what is inside. You must click through and edit stuff. Each time, it asks you to save or discard changes. It's very annoying. You only see the name of the scheduled job, and you need to edit it to see what's it's inside."
"The only thing I could say is maybe some more options for job scheduling are needed."
"The upgrade process is a bit dated and could use some changes."
"One complaint I have is the dashboard flashing as it reloads/refreshes itself. The program was not always like that and it happened after an update at some point."
"Automatic updates do not work, and every update has to be done manually."
"For us, it would be best to improve the speed of the backup instead of adding new features."
"We would like to back up File Shares to Amazon S3/Wasabi."
