We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The best feature is that onboarding to the SIM solution is quite easy. If you are using cloud-based solutions, it's just a few clicks to migrate it.""The solution offers a lot of data on events. It helps us create specific detection strategies.""It's easy to use. It's a very good product. It can easily ingest data from anywhere. It has an easily understandable language to perform actions.""I like the unified security console. You can close incidents using Sentinel in all other Microsoft Security portals, when it comes to incident response.""The standout feature of Sentinel is that, because it's cloud-based and because it's from Microsoft, it integrates really well with all the other Microsoft products. It's really simple to set up and get going.""You can fine-tune the SOAR and you'll be charged only when your playbooks are triggered. That is the beauty of the solution because the SOAR is the costliest component in the market today... but with Sentinel it is upside-down: the SOAR is the lowest-hanging fruit. It's the least costly and it delivers more value to the customer.""Sentinel is a Microsoft product, so they provide very robust use cases and analytic groups, which are very beneficial for the security team. I also like the ability to integrate data sources into the software for on-premise and cloud-based solutions.""I've worked on most of the top SIEM solutions, and Sentinel has an edge in most areas. For example, it has built-in SOAR capabilities, allowing you to run playbooks automatically. Other vendors typically offer SOAR as a separate licensed solution or module, but you get it free with Sentinel. In-depth incident integration is available out of the box."

"The most valuable feature of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is the easy-to-use user interface.""Timeline based analysis; good platform support""The user interface and the timelines they use are the most valuable features. The price model is very simple so that one can understand it easily and there are no surprises within it.""Exabeam Fusion SIEM has a good performance and more advantages than traditional solutions.""The advanced analytics has a really great overview of user behavior.""The way it can connect with AWS is very useful, and the integrations are pretty good.""It's a very user-friendly product and it's a very comprehensive technology.""I have customers that like the EUBA functionality of it. The solution has the ability to build a session, basically. It pulls a lot of information together, for example, everything a user does in a specific timeframe. It's quite helpful."

Cons
"They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us.""Sentinel's reporting is complex and can be more user-friendly.""Its documentation is not so simple. It is easy for somebody who is Microsoft certified or more closely attached to Microsoft solutions. It is not easy for those who are working on open-source platforms. There isn't a central point where everything is documented, and there is no specific training or certification.""Multi-tenancy, in my opinion, needs to be improved. I believe it can do better as a managed service provider.""Documentation is the main thing that could be improved. In terms of product usage, the documentation is pretty good, but I'd like a lot more documentation on Kusto Query Language.""The KQL query does not function effectively with Windows 11 machines, and in the majority of machine-based investigations, KQL queries are essential for organizing the data during investigations.""If their UI was a bit more streamlined and easy to find when I need it, then that would be a great improvement.""Sentinel can be used in two ways. With other tools like QRadar, I don't need to run queries. Using Sentinel requires users to learn KQL to run technical queries and check things. If they don't know KQL, they can't fully utilize the solution."

"We had a large volume right from the beginning and they weren't quite prepared for that. That's something that they should think about when it comes to customers that have a large volume to start off with.""Updating the new release of Exabeam Fusion SIEM takes time and slows our performance.""They need to focus on more of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and coverage. They claim they cover about 70 to 80%. I'm not sure if it's really quite that much, however.""We still have questions surrounding hardware deployment.""I believe if it were more flexible it would be a better product.""They should provide detailed information about detecting phishing emails.""The organzation is rigid and not flexible in the way they operate""Adding to the number of certifications that they have, for example, ISO 27001, would be helpful."

"The solution could improve by providing better documentation for beginners to learn, such as videos or other tutorials."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "They have a great model for pricing that can be based either on user count or gigabits per day."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Exabeam Fusion SIEM. The price of the solution should be reduced."
  • "Exabeam Fusion SIEM's pricing is reasonable."
  • "The solution is expensive."
