We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points.""The single dashboard is a valuable feature."

"The feature that I like the most and the best part is the customization.""It is a stable product. After the initial configuration, you don't have to tweak it much. All systems of Everest IMS work perfectly.""Our response time is within 30 minutes for any support. This solution provides alerts immediately, so we are within our SLA, giving efficiency to our support.""The role-based dashboards provide data points and charts and topology diagrams in a single window. It's like a spider web, where the application, connectivity, and everything is defined for each user of those applications.""The backup, restore, and comparison features are all good.""We use the solution to automatically trigger processes to help us resolve issues. The whole IT process has been automated, such as trying to map all the users and the escalation process. So, if any issue happens, we get an SMS and WhatsApp of the report. If there is a critical issue this has to be sorted out, like the entire data center being down, then there is an alarm.""The most valuable feature is alerting. We get email alerts when a link is down that tell us which device is having a problem.""Their discovery is very quick and they have a CSV file upload mechanism that allows you to onboard five thousand devices a day."

"Technical support has been very helpful so far.""We can see trends for a lot of different things, such as hard drive space and bandwidth usage. We can see and plan for the future by knowing, "We're sort of at 75% capacity now. In three months time, we know we're going to be up to 90%,so we need to plan ahead for it, getting upgrades booked in place." Since things like this take time and effort, it's handy to see trends into the future of where our company is going.""The most valuable feature of PRTG Network Monitor is the dashboards. We can check to see the resources and the uptime.""It is pretty simple to use, which is always a good thing. It's been very reliable in updating us if any issues crop up.""Good compilation of the system's information.""It is able to satisfy all our requirements in terms of email notifications and specific errors on the devices.""I really love the activity library. It gives the flexibility to discover data and metrics about my interface and data server.""I found PRTG Network Monitor very useful for troubleshooting and monitoring the utilization of either the network or server."

Cons
"The technical support needs improvement.""The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"There might be some features in other products that are currently not there in Everest IMS and can be included. I have not yet compared it with any other product.""I would like to see an integrated view of Infraon IMS and Infraon Desk. It would be very helpful if that were integrated into the solution.""The graphical view of the topology does not show us all of the connectivity in our network, which is something that could be improved.""The GUI is in need of improvement. It is not drag-and-drop or easy to use.""We have enquired if there are any possibilities of monitoring non-IPBS devices.""This solution is available in SaaS. The reason why we have not gone to SaaS is they do not have a country-specific separation of assets. There are GDPR and other requirements that might require country-specific sensitive information to be filtered as well as other things that need to be taken care of. Normally, if we need to do any compliance, like ISO27000 compliance, they don't have such a report within their system. This kind of report is missing from their SaaS. That is one of the reasons that we have gone to the on-prem version, where I am assured that my data is secure.""Email support is a bit slow. Once you drop an email, it takes time.""I would like to have the option to add a new device or meet with the next release. Right now, it needs to be done from the backend which results in a heavy reliance on R&D."

More Infraon IMS Cons →

"The technical support could respond a little bit quicker.""Maybe in the future there will be room for improvement, but currently, there is nothing pressing that I can think of""Integration into service management ticketing systems could be better. They should simplify the integration into big service management platforms like ServiceNow, Remedy, and Cherwell. They're really into monitoring, but they don't do any self-resolution. It would be better if the company moved more into the AIOps space so that you could actually kick off some remedies. I know that you can execute some commands from the tool, but you need to develop those all yourself. It would be really handy if they had some auto-remedy scripts that they could develop on top.""In the next release, PRTG Network Monitor should add a backup solution.""I would like to see a more robust platform and a new dashboard. In addition, the code is good, but it needs improvement.""In terms of sensors and probes, it would be really cool if PRTG had a purely Azure-based solution. We had to install a probe on one of our cloud servers and then let that probe out from there. It would be really cool if it just monitored Azure without having to install something on the device.""Once you start going above 5000 sensors, things do start to get a bit shaky. There are some best practice out there that you will need to adopt and be aware of.""PRTG access works best from the web GUI. There are dedicated apps on Windows/Android/iOS, but they are slow and don’t work as well as the web GUI."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We pay for a number of devices on the accounts and since it is on-premises, we pay the maintenance charges for the year."
  • "The pricing is reasonable, given the features that they provide."
  • "The cost model is within our budget. I have less than 180 critical assets, but the moment that I have 1,000 assets, then the license model is totally different. I don't know whether they are capable of handling that kind of a load. They could revisit the licensing model."
  • "If you are looking for the best product with the best price, Infraon is the best product. We evaluated five to six products and finally felt Infraon was better because of the pricing model, especially because it was more flexible."
  • "Licensing is calculated on a per-user basis."
  • "I think that the pricing for this solution is reasonable and varies by number of devices."

  • "Licenses are very expensive, so I would like to see cheaper licensing."
  • "If you're looking for a cost effective software I’d suggest this product."
  • "Sensors on free version can run out quick."
  • "The ability to use the base version with 100 free sensors is great. The cost on other packages can be very reasonable."
  • "When you buy PRTG, everything comes in one bundle. Licensing is very easy."
  • "The price was pretty good, very competitive."
  • "The pricing is not too bad. It's not massively expensive, and the ability to upscale or even downscale licenses every year is brilliant for us."
  • "On a yearly basis, I believe it's between £1,200 and £1,500."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
