We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The dashboard is a valuable feature."

More JenniferSoft Pros →

"The best feature of New Relic is its simple look and feel, making it easier to use than other tools.""It has prevented failures from occurring in our production environment.""The solution is quite stable.""We have done the New Relic integration with Serverless AWS, which has helped us with monitoring, and keeping our monitoring from our on-premise part with the cloud part.""The most valuable feature is the ability to receive in-depth information about applications. It can detect a lot of important information.""The VPN is one of the solution's most valuable features for us.""We were able to integrate with the messaging tool, Slack, which meant that we got notifications whenever something was not quite right.""They have baseline level alerting."

Cons
"The solution is pricy and has room for improvement."

More JenniferSoft Cons →

"There has been some problem with the agent, and it is just not working well. It is not able to record information with the application server. They have been able to fix the issue, but it took quite a long time. This is the main issue in the APM products and also in New Relic. The mobile application monitoring has been pretty difficult to set up and also quite expensive. It should be a little bit easier and cheaper. Because it is pretty difficult and expensive, many customers don't take it.""There were some settings we had issues with.""It gives you amazing statistics, but doesn’t give you enough information about what to do with the statistics.""Documentation is one of the biggest things that I have a problem with since its documentation is not clear sometimes.""New Relic does enable frontend performance monitoring by default. However, when we are troubleshooting the issue, New Relic is not able to trace back to the service where the issue is. Other solutions, such as Dynatrace are better.""I think that there have been some questionable product enhancements. Over a year ago, New Relic rolled out a new navigation that really disrupted our workflow.""It is a serious tool and requires a lot of time invested in order to understand how it works.""It is complicated, especially in how you interpret the data that it provides. If it had a bit more canned, out-of-the-box features, especially some of the reporting features, that would be more useful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
  • "The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
  • "Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
  • "It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
  • "If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
  • "I recommend using the free version of New Relic. If you like the free version and understand its importance for your company, you can move to the trial. Then, you can migrate to the paid version."
  • "There is a picture which goes to your browser and it monitors requests from other users. However, it's impossible to use now because the price is very high. The feature is very nice, but I tried it during the trial period, and the current price makes it impossible to use."
  • "They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
