Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I'm really happy with the background remote access, which allows me to easily change system internals such as registry keys and silently execute commands using the command prompt in the background. This kind of remote access makes it easy for us to do our jobs without getting in the customer's way.""I find all features of N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management valuable, but the most valuable is its monitoring feature. The solution has great monitoring functionalities. For example, you can monitor a device in terms of its RAM, CPU, etc. You can also monitor the connectivity through N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management, and you can also check whether a device is down or up through the solution. I also like that you can monitor Windows servers, Linux servers, printers, network devices, and virtualization servers such as VMware and Hyper-V using N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management. You can also monitor disk utilization, HTTPS, whether an SSL certificate is valid or expired, etc., through the solution. Apart from monitoring, I also find patch management as one of the most valuable features of N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management. You can use it for Windows updates, as a patch management example. You can even manage and monitor servers and backup services via N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management, so whenever there's a backup failure or issue, you'll receive alerts from the solution, as long as it's configured as a Windows service, so you can even do a lot of preventive maintenance activities with the help of N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management. The solution is one of the best RMM solutions I've used so far. It's user-friendly, and it's pretty easy to use because you only need one interface where you can do a lot of activities. As a technician, I'm always concerned with time because if I have to troubleshoot an issue or a major incident, if I have to jump into two or three systems and open a few tabs on those systems, it'll be very hectic, especially if I have to switch between each step to see what's going on. In N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management, it's pretty easy to do because I have one interface and one tab where I can do a lot of processes and activities.""The details and the reports they provide are what I like, especially the details for almost the whole computer and the OS type.""The solution is user-friendly.""We like that this solution is in real-time, it gives us real-time monitoring.""The most valuable aspect of N-able Remote Monitoring & Management is it provides an all-in solution for the different solutions.""The most helpful feature is script deployment because we can create whatever we want to deploy on our devices. This works in a cloud environment, where we previously relied on Active Directory. Since the start of the COVID outbreak, all the staff members began working from home, and most of the people there did not use the VPN to transfer the policies.""The reporting for this solution has been most valuable."

"It provides high scalability, alerting, notification, templating, and end-to-end security.""We value the auto-host discovery, template import, bulk import/export features. Newer versions also add nice features, such as multi-IP per host.""Like other common Linux distributions, some of the most valuable features of this solution are the ease of use and deployment. It's simple and has a lot of packages and a lot of software.""Zabbix helps to save time.""We are able to do problem determination on runaway processes.""The implementation process is very straightforward.""Templates are good. We download them from the official Zabbix site or the community. If the information we need isn't available, we create custom templates based on client requirements.""We use it to monitor and manage our servers."

Cons
"The patch management of the solution could improve.""The alerts and reporting could be done a little more clearly. They are quite cryptic, and quite often, we seem to get a lot of reports just for a computer rebooting or going offline for a couple of minutes, which doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal. Reporting could be refined and improved, and they can make it easy to decipher the reports.""The product looks a bit old-fashioned.""There are disconnection issues sometimes.""There is quite a bit of delay on the portal where we receive monitoring information from the endpoint agent on the remote device. Sometimes it gets stuck with no live response from the device, and you have to refresh the portal just to make sure that it's projecting the right information.""The reporting could be more customizable. RMM pulls a vast amount of data, but you need to filter through it to get a decent executive report each month. I'm pulling reports all day through the XML file and such to get the information our executive needs. They don't want a 34-megabyte Excel spreadsheet, but the overview only provides limited information, like a basic breakdown.""The solutions could improve by adding more features.""Kaseya is a similar product and they have easier scripts. If you want to deploy one software to 100 machines, we need to dig into it and then we need to create the script and work with the support team and then we can deploy that particular script. The pre-built scripted is the one thing that I would definitely like to have improved."

"I am having difficulties connecting it to Grafana, as well as some of the other plugins like Kibana.""My company wanted to do an exercise command to access IT from Cameroon. They wanted to access an FSS to a second host with second equipment that was on another coast but it is not possible on Zabbix to do it. They want to directly access from the front-end of Zabbix to access a prompt in Zabbix to an access terminal. In the front-end, there is no way to do that. That would be an important improvement.""The product could be more secure and more stable.""It could be more stable.""The reporting features need improvement, especially detailed inventory reporting. Since it's freeware, reporting may not be a major focus.""When we have a problem, we have to do a lot of research to solve it.""The APM monitoring has room for improvement, although I hear that the new 5.2 version has some improvements in that area, and I'd like to give that a go. I would like to see a few more templates out there for different styles of monitoring. I use the Grafana interface for reporting. I would also like it to have an out-of-the-box ability to email reports. You can create reports, but to be able to email those reports would be really helpful. I've got users who are not interested in logging in and generating a report. They want it all pre-canned and sent to an email address. It would also be really handy if we could pin certain reports up onto platforms such as Teams or SharePoint. A GUI for the proxy server would be cool to have for debugging purposes and for the support teams to have a look at, but I don't know whether that's really feasible to do. I get enough from the log files themselves.""I would like to see a more flexible mobile client, and better HA out of the box."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's expensive and out of our budget."
  • "We use SolarWinds RMM on a pay-as-you-go monthly basis, so the cost can be highly variable because it depends on a few factors such as how many devices you need to support and what extra features you want to use. The more devices you have, the more you'll pay, and the same goes for extras."
  • "There is a license required for this solution."
  • "I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to that since I set it up. It has per-user licensing. If I remember it correctly, it worked out to about $10 a month per user. There were no additional costs. It was pretty straightforward and simple."
  • "Out clients pay monthly for the license of N-able Remote Monitoring & Management."
  • "As I'm not part of the procurement team and because I'm 100% technical, I'm not that familiar with the costs associated with N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management, but I can say that in my location, particularly here in Sri Lanka, it's more expensive than other RMM solutions. I'm working for an Australian IT MSP, and over there, the solution isn't as expensive, but where I'm located, it is, so this is the reason why sometimes, clients don't go with N-able N-sight Remote Monitoring & Management. Licensing cost is also the reason why my organization is looking into Kaseya RMM. My current organization merged with another organization that's using both Kaseya RMM and Connectwise."
  • "The product is fairly priced."
  • "The solution is not very expensive."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
