We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is reliable and easy to use (user-friendly). The heat mapping, passive network surveying, and doing the heat mapping of a building's wireless network allows me to see what level of coverage an area has.""The addition of the AirMapper software on the nXG and our AirCheck G2s has helped a lot because we're mostly not drilling down into the data. Local managers only need to see the coverage on their end and whether there are performance bottlenecks. These things are easy enough for us to ascertain with iPerf.""The heat maps are quite good, and some features are easy to use.""The benefit is with the ease of use of the software, I am able to show the customer, "Here is what your wireless coverage looks like." It is set up in a fashion that non-technical people can understand it.""The most valuable features are the survey, spectrum analysis, and reporting.""Using the products to ensure the safety of our equipment that we have a lot invested in.""The predictive survey is the most valuable feature. I use it quite often.""Clear and easy to use maps."

"Compared to other solutions, captive guest network is one of the best isolation and tunneling.""This increased mobility has helped our organization. We can talk to one another from different locations and stay in constant contact and with employees across the enterprise. Everyone has access to up-to-the-minute communications and all documents and applications on our network.""Cisco Wireless is highly stable.""The product enables mobility and centralized control.""The CleanAir features and the fast transition.""The initial setup was quite easy. We have a very good relationship with our integrator and our integrator has a good relationship with Cisco. The integrator that installs Cisco is quite knowledgeable about the technology. They are trained and have a good relationship with their tech. We cannot be experts in each domain and we have to be supported by an integrator.""This product has a Clean Air Solution, which means it can detect non-WiFi signals. It not only signals but it can also detect that what type of device it is coming from. And if it needs to change the channel in order to avoid that unwanted signal, it can do so and that way the client machine will have better performance.""It's very easy to configure the access points."

Cons
"Printouts are JPEG printouts. The AirMagnet software is proprietary. I can't send my customers a file, because it is AirMagnet file, even for building projects. I can only send JPEGs or screenshots of heat maps.""I would say some of our newer techs that are going out to job sites can be a little bit intimidated by the interface.""When you conduct an active survey and then want to use it for design work, it's actually not very useful.""The surveying features are in need of improvement, along with general usability.""Less time consumed doing the real surveys.""AirMagnet Survey doesn't cover certain devices in the system.""The user interface needs a lot of improvement. The auto-placement of access points is not accurate.""It would be nice to have some more training resources for younger techs. We can use them if we need some assistance, but that usually requires one of us who knows what we're doing to calibrate the programs properly."

"If they could offer better coverage, we'd be much happier.""It is not easy to use. It should be made easier to use. They can maybe migrate it to the cloud so that we can manage the WLCs together. I find the licensing part very hard to understand. Cisco is now moving towards smart licensing, so this issue will be addressed soon.""The biggest reason why we could no longer continue with Cisco Wireless was because of the high cost to upgrade everything. It was disappointing that Cisco treated us as just another big company, and did not offer any leeway on their pricing given that we are an educational institute. And although the system we had in place from Cisco Wireless was good enough over the last ten years, it started to show its age when pushed to its limit during the pandemic.""Cisco is costlier relative to other solutions.""I would like to see less dependency on other products such as ISE and Prime for certain implementations.""There should be an option for a wireless bridge that can be used to join two access points.""The solution could improve by having an advanced model with a controller. Additionally, the solution could be more secure.""Before deploying a wireless solution, you have to read and plan every role, every windows system, put in your access point, and then make the audit. This solution is not the best one to do this. We use another solution that is called Eko. In the future, if this solution could have better auditing capabilities it would be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The moment we began needing more of the vendor's support, the cost became very high; we switched to another solution."
  • "For technical support, you need an annual license, but it is not worth it."
  • "The pricing needs improvement."
  • "This product is very expensive."
  • "There is an annual cost of the solution. There are some additional charges, such as support and maintenance."
  • "The tool's pricing is medium."

  • "It is an expensive solution."
  • "Expensive."
  • "As far as I know Cisco is very competitive, price-wise. Talk to your third-party vendor. It all depends on the company size - how many employees, how big the building is. If it's wireless, and you have only 50 employees but you're using a large building floor, in that case you need many access points. But if you have 50 employees using two or three rooms, then you probably don't need it and it's going to be high density, so there is a different design. So you need to talk to a subject matter expert. Talk to them and design accordingly."
  • "Cisco is more on the expensive side, as compared to Aruba, but I must say Cisco's quality is unmatched, for sure."
  • "I am not a fan of Cisco's software pricing model. Their management software is far too expensive."
  • "The pricing is high. It could be cheaper."
  • "Never pay the full GPL price."
  • "Pricing is a bit on the high side compared to its competitors but we have to consider the support and usages of the solution. Licensing is now RTU and smart licensing. We need three types of licenses. One for each of the: APs, HA, controller."
