Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have configured the alerting so the error or the incident will go to the respective team. Then, the team can contact the user once they see that they have an issue and ask if they can them resolve the issue.""It provides the whole perspective in a single place when trying to guide the right people to go to the right solution at any given point in time.""It gives more visibility into all the coding (the black screen). It gives a nice screen. You can see ups and downs. You can see where the traffic is getting impacted, more on the convergence side.""I think one of the most valuable features is the Dynatrace API, for both metrics and configuration.""The ability for Dynatrace to identify the root cause of problems in a timely manner through its powerful AI capability and dependency mapping is a real value add for the service that we offer.""Automatic instrumentation of new services and technology without the need to install specific agents or modules.""PureStack, I just love it. It can give visibility from the end-user perspective right through to the code level. That's the most valuable feature.""Google says is that you have a number of things on which you should measure your performance. One is if there's an error or not. Dynatrace tells you whether is an error or not. Second is saturation, whether something is getting saturated. You should be aware of what is getting saturated. Dynatrace even tells you that. The third is if there is a latency. Network latency is also told to me by Dynatrace."

"The most valuable feature of Rapid7 InsightOps is the search functionality.""It has the ability to alert and track logs from different sources.""The ability to browse logs from multiple sources at the same time really speeds up root cause analysis.""Integration of InsightOps with other tools, especially SIEM solutions, has generally improved operational efficiency.""We can save logs as plain text."

Cons
"You have got cloning at one level, but it would be nice to have cloning at deeper levels. Or, as you are doing the cloning, it would be nice if you could select different options. Then, you are not having to sit there and build dashboards, and spending a lot of time in the cloning area.""I'd like to see self-healing and I'd also like to see more automation. It looks like is that's the direction Dynatrace is heading in, in their Dynatrace product.""The AI is not that intelligent and there are different places where it could be even more automated.""The one thing people really liked that we can do in AppMon is executive dashboards and, until recently, you couldn't even create the business transactions you need for the data at the back-end of those dashboards. But if I had to ask for one thing it would be: In the new platform, give me the ability to do dashboarding in the way it's done in AppMon, and I think that would bridge a lot of the missing pieces. If I could do the same type of executive dashboards on the walls, they would be happy.""I'd like to see more agents ready to be deployed. I know that it's possible to develop integration with Dynatrace API, but in day-to-day operations it's hard to do that kind of customization. So if they had more agents for more platforms and more applications, I think it would be better.""Documentation is slightly in error as far as directory set ups and guidance. We came to our own solution for distributing the disk loads.""Improvements are needed in the navigation and timeframe selection when browsing problems.""I did like the old dashboards, the legacy 6.3 for example; the way we were able to do the dashboarding in the client. I would like to be able to see that in the new version of Dynatrace."

More Dynatrace Cons →

"There are a few things I would like to do with a few more complex queries which I am not able to do right now, because it is a SaaS solution.""Since I used the beta, improvements are to be expected. The dashboard options could have been clearer, but I believe it is more a problem with the limited documentation available at the time.""Rapid7 InsightOps could improve by making the search query better. There are times when the search query is broken and it does not find anything.""Improvement is needed in the dashboard of InsightOps, especially for less technical users.""The solution takes a little bit of time when we load the website for the first time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is based on the number of servers monitored, so for big applications, it is a bit expensive."
  • "Licensing is a bit complicated for Dynatrace, and pricing is dependent on how much your organization invests."
  • "We found an issue within the first week of ownership that has been costing us more than the entire license cost."
  • "Product pricing can seem a little over complex, however this is minor and does not detract from the benefits of the solution."
  • "Getting the first agents installed, getting information, and coverage in a initial set of systems can be done in hours and with a low cost entry point."
  • "Price (of the product) is a major concern for all the clients I work with."
  • "The licensing model is confusing in solutioning clients for the number of hosts needed to deploy."
  • "The product is superior to others, but it comes with a price tag that is often difficult to position back to clients."
