We performed a comparison between Dynatrace and SolarWinds NPM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic and others in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Observability."The User experience monitor is a real added value."
"You don't have to configure it. It just needs to be installed."
"Support from Dynatrace is excellent. They are always on hand for any queries, demos, and/or issues."
"Dynatrace is a single platform. It has all these different tools but they are actually all baked into the OneAgent technology. Within that OneAgent... you have the different tool sets. You have threat analysis, memory dumps, Java analysis, the database statements, and so on. It's all included in this OneAgent. So the management is actually quite easy."
"With Dynatrace, we have synthetic checks and real-user monitoring of all of our websites, places where members and providers can interact with us over the web. We monitor the response times of those with Dynatrace, and it's all integrated into one place."
"The ability to create any dashboard that you want for different levels of reporting for technical people, managers, or even executive level. They can get a one page view of what the system health and performance looks like."
"I think one of the most valuable features is the Dynatrace API, for both metrics and configuration."
"We can know exactly what happened in what time with PurePath."
"It combines and presents information from many different sources, giving a corporate-wide vision on a single pane of glass."
"It's a very good tool and a very stable tool."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"The SolarWinds NPM framework, upon which most of their flagship products are built, empowers a wide variety of admins and users to quickly find value in their installed products."
"The most valuable feature is the way it monitors the environment, and how user-friendly the console is for the end-user. The interface is also very easy and it captures all the information very well."
"It is scalable."
"I like SolarWinds support because it's 24/7. You describe your issues, your situation and maybe two or three hours later you can discuss a solution with a technical engineer."
"I like the tracking feature to track devices and see where they are connected. This is very practical."
"Documentation is slightly in error as far as directory set ups and guidance. We came to our own solution for distributing the disk loads."
"I would like them to add serverless capabilities, because everyone is going there."
"Sometimes we get incidences during the US morning when we are not at the office. If I can get the benefit of a solution, which can alert us and solve itself. It is an automation thing where we do not want to wake up late at night and work on the application."
"I need more experience."
"This tool had a feature of doing load test in production or lower environment, which was shut down earlier this year. We are missing that feature badly and we definitely want to see that feature back."
"Make it easier to define applications. E.g., provide an API for applications defined by REST services."
"It needs more dashboards like AppMon."
"Either use less system resources and be faster or use more resources to pre-compute the PurePath on recent X minutes of data"
"It would be good to have high security."
"We decided that we were no longer going to trust that their products have not been capitalized."
"Application Performance Monitoring should be included in this solution."
"Technical support can be slow to respond."
"It would be nice to have a test to check if you can access a particular device via API without installing it and waiting for a poll cycle. You should have the capacity to initiate a test to see if it was reachable and get the results almost immediately."
"An area for improvement in SolarWinds NPM is the short retention period. Currently, it's just for seven days of data, which is very low, making it hard for my organization to keep that data. SolarWinds recommended a seven-day retention period, but my organization needs a fourteen-day data retention period. Hence, I'd like an increase in the retention period or the database limit in SolarWinds NPM because you can't go back to the data for any investigation if seven days have passed. Another area for improvement in SolarWinds NPM is the database, which needs to be a bit more mature. I want a modified database in the next release of SolarWinds NPM. I'd also like more options added to groups because, currently, it's very limited."
"There isn't support available to us as they don't offer support in our country."
"If they could combine everything into one product, that would be very helpful."
