We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This is one of the critical products for my company and we use it extensively. We currently use each and every feature of Oracle SOA.""Enables our Product Manager to post products to different outside EC platforms with only one interface and one process.""In Oracle SOA Suite some applications are not able to use REST, but it can support both SOAP and REST. You're able to integrate quite a lot of systems, which may not be able to in other solutions. You can also use XML and JSON. It is a standardizing type of tool. It doesn't matter whether I'm using JSON or XML, it can convert them.""The stability of the solution is the most valuable feature.""Conceptually, how it integrates a lot of essential enterprise process components. That's the most valuable.""It performs better in real-time transactions.""Middleware jobs developing for EC, ERP, and shipping systems become easier.""The product allows you to visualize how a company is working currently by providing rich possibilities for analysis such as the audit trails and therefore shows where improvements might be valuable."

"We can use different transaction codes to check the performance of the system, and if we are unable to access a particular transaction, we can still check the table to see what is happening.""It provides an efficient integration framework with other SAP products.""We strongly rely on our SAP data. We need access to the information to analyze it, so the solution allows us to make use of the data that we get from SAP. This is the most valuable aspect of the solution.""I like that I don't need any extra tools to keep the solution up and running.""SAP NetWeaver is doing its job, and it performs well. In the last year, I have not had any problems with it.""The solution is scalable.""The flexibility and the customizability this solution has when adapting to our business requirements is a huge benefit.""The human capital management module is valuable."

Cons
"I want to see easier integration connections with other cloud-based tools.""The technical support is good, we have premier support which costs extra.""Decrease the number of internal resources which the product uses.""The installation and adjustment process seems too complex.""SOA, OSB, SOA Cloud Service.""It's also not developer-friendly.""I would like to see divided containers more separately as a microservice.""They supply lots of documentation but finding what we need is challenging at times."

More Oracle SOA Suite Cons →

"The solution needs to better integrate Salesforce. It is a key player in the market and a lot of companies are looking for a lot more integration around it.""SAP is likely transitioning to S4, so it is unlikely that they will continue to use NetWeaver.""SAP NetWeaver it's still complex for a normal user unless you memorize those action codes.""It can always improve. It should have the ability to connect with other databases. It was a little bit tough to do that. I would like to have the ability to research certain markets and then integrate it with NetWeaver. I'd like to compare it with other databases from other companies being used in the world so we can integrate it with our own products to compare if we are still current on the market.""The initial setup is a little complex. The users are not able to install the prerequisite drivers or are not able to follow the SOP because they don't have access to SAP Logon. If users already have access, it will take seven to 10 days to deploy the solution. If they do not, it may take a maximum of 25 to 30 days.""The product documentation can be improved.""Though SAP NetWeaver has been pretty stable and mature, some issues arose after some customizations, so that's an area for improvement.""SAP NetWeaver PI is not connected to the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
  • "It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
  • "This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
  • "Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
  • "The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
  • "The product is moderately priced."
  • "Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."

  • "It's a very expensive solution."
  • "The licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
  • "SAP NetWeaver requires a license, but I'm not sure how the licenses and payments were coordinated."
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing a nine to ten since it is an expensive solution."

    Overview

Oracle SOA Suite is a comprehensive, standards-based software suite to build, deploy and manage integration following the concepts of service-oriented architecture (SOA). The components of the suite benefit from consistent tooling, a single deployment and management model, end-to-end security and unified metadata management. Oracle SOA Suite helps businesses lower costs by allowing maximum re-use of existing IT investments and assets, regardless of the environment (OS, application server, etc.) they run in, or the technology they were built upon. Its easy-to-use, re-use focused, unified application development tooling and end-to-end lifecycle management support further reduces development and maintenance cost and complexity.
