We performed a comparison between Snowflake and TIBCO Live Datamart based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Warehouse solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The ability to share the data and the ability to scale up and down easily are the most valuable features. The concept of data sharing and data plumbing made it very easy to provide and share data. The ability to refresh your Dev or QA just by doing a clone is also valuable. It has the dynamic scale up and scale down feature. Development and deployment are much easier as compared to other platforms where you have to go through a lot of stuff. With a tool like DBT, you can do modeling and transformation within a single tool and deploy to Snowflake. It provides continuous deployment and continuous integration abilities. There is a separation of storage and compute, so you only get charged for your usage. You only pay for what you use. When we share the data downstream with business partners, we can specifically create compute for them, and we can charge back the business."
"The distributed architecture of Snowflake has the capacity to process huge datasets faster and allows us to scale up and down according to our needs."
"Everything is automatic, and I don't have to do any maintenance."
"The tool is very easy to use. The solution’s desktop features are also very easy to use. Also, the product’s SQL-based connectivity is also good. It can connect with any tool."
"I like the fact that we don't need a DBA. It automatically scales stuff."
"I like the idea that you can assign roles and responsibilities, limiting access to data."
"Snowflake is faster than on-premise systems and allows for variable compute power based on need."
"Scaling is a big plus point of Snowflake."
"The solution has a powerful aggregating feature"
"You can create your own rules that include mathematic calculations."
"From the documentation, the black box is not very descriptive. Snowflake does not reveal how exactly the data is processed or sourced."
"The documentation could improve. They should provide architecture information."
"It doesn't enforce typical relational database constraints. Quite expensive."
"The UI could improve because sometimes in the security query the UI freezes. We then have to close the window and restart."
"The design of the product is easily misunderstood."
"The solution could improve by allowing non-structured data, such as PDFs, images, or videos. We cannot see the data."
"There are some challenges with loading unstructured data and integrating some message queues or brokers. In one project, we had a problem connecting to one of the message queues and we had to take a different route altogether on Microsoft Azure."
"Its pricing or affordability is one of the big challenges. Pricing was the only thing that we didn't like about Snowflake. In terms of technical features, it is a complete solution."
"Improvements need to be made on the load balancing side."
"The solution's setup could be quicker and easier."
