ABBYY Vantage and UiPath are not direct alternatives but complementary solutions that work together. UiPath is praised for its positive ROI and strong automation capabilities, while ABBYY Vantage excels in OCR accuracy, automation workflows, and data extraction. UiPath users appreciate the comprehensive automation features, but desire improvements in UI and performance. ABBYY Vantage users value its efficient customer support, but note areas for enhancement in integration, and OCR accuracy.
The summary above is based on 1023 interviews we conducted recently with UiPath and ABBYY Vantage users. To access the review's full transcripts, download our report.
"The most valuable feature is the ability to capture data from documents with different formats."
"The most valuable features have been the rate of recognition and the structured documents."
"Identifies and extract relevant elements from a document."
"We have found the solution to be stable so far."
"The UI is user-friendly and ABBYY Vantage supports over 100 languages."
"Allows us to run through documents and extract information."
"We are able to extract details from a PDF and put them into a CSV. It is able to extract the details that we are looking for. We have the Machine Learning feature to extract the data with respect to the position of the field."
"It saves us a lot of manual work."
"The OCR technology within this solution has been most valuable. We are able to scan handwritten documents and scrape their contents to be captured with in the system."
"UiPath is very user-friendly. There is ease of use. People can understand it very quickly."
"UiPath Academy courses are great."
"The insights that this solution provides have been most valuable. We use these insights to report to higher management on the performance of our processes."
"Once the robots are ready, the scaling of the workforce can be as easy as multiple clicks to add additional workforce for the same task."
"The most valuable features are CR capabilities and logistics automation."
"Excel automation is extremely reliable. Excel integration is one of the top features that I have been using. We also have a feature called Document Understanding for processing the PDF format of an invoice by a bot. It has the capability to scan an invoice and then pick out the required fields, such as the name of the vendor, the details of the products being sent, or the cost of the product."
"The UiPath Academy was pretty helpful for us in the initial stages."
"This solution should have better integration with RPA solutions such as Blue Prism."
"The price for trainings or certifications are on the very, very high side."
"This solution could be improved by offering better integration with other platforms."
"Customization in the solution needs to be modified. In the future, I would like to see the product have better customization functionality."
"Not a ten because sometimes some documents have handwritten data. If this improved, I would rate it a ten out of ten."
"The solution needs more web or cloud-based development."
"ABBYY Vantage could improve the processing of handwritten notes."
"ABBYY Vantage is mainly available on the public cloud but for clients that use a private cloud, it is complicated to set up the solution."
"Stability looks good except that we see that when we run the bot sometimes somewhere in the middle it fails. It will recovers, but I don't know why and can't answer to my customers why. I don't know if something can be done to eliminate the failing piece. I don't know whether it is a stability issue, but it should be handled in future."
"I would really like to see the package deployment updated. As it is right now, if you want to update something, you have to take down the latest code, sync the packages and re-upload everything back through dev test to prod."
"To improve this solution, there could be increased transparency over licensing and consistency regarding what it costs for on-prem and what it costs for the cloud."
"The UiPath Academy Orchestrator training needs to be updated to reflect the recent changes."
"Going forward, I would like to see more stability in the robots. When I create a robot, then I want it to work for quite some period of time. I've had some situations, where things will update, change, and the robot is broken. Part of this is making a more stable implementation easier."
"AI machine learning has room for improvement."
"The initial setup was not straightforward. With some of the technical infrastructure that we deployed in 2017, we were an early adopter, so there wasn't a lot of product experience. We made a lot of mistakes with it."
"There should be the ability to customize the building blocks instead of having to specify everything in every step. We should be able to combine these building blocks to make specific processes faster."

Hello dear Nesrin Benhayoun, hope you are doing fine. There are some big differences between them. I will name 2 of them which for me are the most important:
1- FlexiCapture is an independent Platform. This means that you will be able to automate any department demand for documents context (now so called content), no matter this department "is, or is not" provided with UiPath bot (or any other RPA Vendor). You have to think about FlexiCapture spread all over the organization, helping with any document demand.
2- FlexiCapture has has more than 30 years experience, and developed extremely powerful intelligence layers, which since the beginning have been guided by AI and ML, and this will bring the organizations all over the world the ability to contextualize all the read fields, paragraphs, tables, images (personal pictures for instance) inside a document or inside a set of documents.
Uipath is at the beginniing of its journey and also has ABBYY FlexiCapture as one of their strategy for IDP offers.
If you want a real independent and faster IDP solution (no matter the RPA vendor) go for FlexiCapture and let the bots join when they arrive. You don't need for the bots, to start working with this powerful tool that will really scale your automation...anywhere.
I think Omar Madaeen has given the response very crisp and clear! When you use it with a a product along with its built in RPA and AI capabilities like UiPath it will become easy to move the process and address the complete value chain of process.
Dear Nesrin,
UIPath is using ABBYY FlexiCapture in their projects as an integration to the OCR capabilities, and UIPath AI is something different UiPath artificial intelligence (AI) allows you to scientifically discover automation opportunities and enhance your robots with AI Skills. Simply drag and drop these AI Skills into your workflows—and start automating more it has nothing to deal with OCR.
Abbyy Flexi Capture is an OCR solution. UiPath is an RPA platform solution.
Abbyy Flexicapture mainly excels where Optical Character Recognition input is required (eg. Reading a physical bill and digitizing/extracting information from it) and it cannot interact with other computer applications.
UiPath on the other hand can automate the overall processes themselves using excel, word or any other application that runs on a computer just like how a human does but faster and better.
