Pros
"The most valuable features are flexibility and management.""From a usability and functionality perspective, Cisco UCS Manager is very good.""When one server fails, we can attach the service profile to a new server, which saves a lot of time.""The interface is ergonomic and native. We can use UCS Manager to do all the configurations for the servers, including storage, networking, and all the other components we need inside the fabric. It's simple and flexible.""Cisco UCS has different layers of security, and you can do multiple installations of your LIAMs on top of the server and Blade. You can install VMware, Windows Server, Hyper-V, etc.""Cisco UCS Manager is overall a good package because it gives a GUI interface and a CLI.""It is more robust than other solutions. So, the stability is good.""We can configure the Cisco UCS Manager, the profiles and interactions with the resource we manage."

"The up-to-date graphs and the history are very good.""The product is easy to use and the web interface is fantastic.""It is very flexible, and we can monitor many aspects of IT as well as ERP and CRM services. It has a very powerful interface and APIs for customization.""We like the alerting system, the SNMP monitoring and the customization of the bandwidth.""It is great for service level agreements and can comply fully with internet monitoring or any interface.""PRTG is relatively intuitive and fairly straightforward. It has net flow monitoring and that works all right. I would describe it as a decent middle-of-the-road solution.""The solution provides us with needed feedback on our IT infrastructure. Cons
"I would like to see Cisco UCS optionally work as a hyper-converged system because right now, it only operates as a converged system.""There is room for improvement in the software part of Cisco UCS Manager. It should be more user-friendly, especially when creating policies.""Its user interface can be improved. It can be more user-friendly.""Upgrading the firmware is a difficult procedure.""The pricing can be better.""The integration with other solutions could be better. I think Cisco can only integrate using Intersight. There is a second interface available as a SaaS platform, in the cloud, or on-premise. It's based on the Redfish protocol, which is standard for all the B-series servers in the market. We can integrate other solutions using API.""The installation and upgrade sytems need to be improved.""In the next release, I would like to see improvements made to their security."

More Cisco UCS Manager Cons →

"The icons on PRTG's network diagram are hard to find. For example, finding the icons for firewalls and servers is difficult, so we're struggling to create the network topology.""I would like to see network mapping.""When using PRTG Network Monitor it is beneficial if you have prior experience with it, the user interface could improve.""I would like to see a more robust platform and a new dashboard. In addition, the code is good, but it needs improvement.""Mostly, this software has sensors for devices to monitor specs and you can build or develop or modify various sensors, according to your company's needs. But you may need to do that with coding or plugins or with the support of Paessler AG, the manufacturer.""The clustering aspect needs improvement, as there is a bit of confusion about you do when hit that 5000 probe mark.""The automation should be improved.""I know we're going to move to Docker applications and I understand that PRTG does some monitoring regarding this. I do not know if it is complete. If it's not yet complete, it's something they should consider improving."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
