We performed a comparison between DX Unified Infrastructure Management and Zabbix based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Network Monitoring Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"We are able to go in and actually leverage the thick client for a nice easy drag and drop solution."
"You can scale it pretty much however way you want to as long as you have the servers to throw at it."
"The ability to monitor any platform. We have Windows, Linux, AIX, and mainframe all being monitored with the same UIM infrastructure."
"It is easy to implement but requires good planning."
"The monitoring of the applications to let our business know when things are performing and that they're up and available."
"Easy admin functionality. You can quickly do all the admin functionality without reducing cycles."
"It is reliable when it comes to monitoring."
"I definitely appreciate the flexibility and ease of use. We've been using UIM for almost three years now. It's pretty much point and click, very easy to use. And we've had no problems scaling it to our own environment."
"Every new asset placed in the environment can be automatically detected, predicting human failures."
"The most valuable feature is the support for monitoring Cisco switches."
"Zabbix is good for discovery."
"There are lots of great features and functionality within the solution."
"Like other common Linux distributions, some of the most valuable features of this solution are the ease of use and deployment. It's simple and has a lot of packages and a lot of software."
"The initial setup was not complex."
"The calculations part is the most valuable."
"The basic setup is very easy."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"It needs a little bit more functionality in the Admin Console."
"Making a GUI with criteria such as selection by robot/hub/probe etc."
"It is a little complex to use versus other softwares."
"CA UIM needs some improvement with performance reporting (if we compare it to CA eHealth)."
"Stability."
"The other element is that there are no real templates, out of the box. Let's go with an example where we do have the probe, which is great, and we do have a really nuanced customer with a small set of devices that maybe not a lot of other customers use. There might not be a template in place, so effectively we have the tool in front of us but we still need to develop a solution. So it would be really nice to see a little bit more of something like a central repository of templates that we could use. That would help us expedite our onboarding process."
"I would like to see auditability. We've built our own audit functionality to ensure that every CI has the desired model configuration applied to it. And we run that on a daily basis. If that became part of the product, I think it might be a little bit less intensive in terms of resource, because we're doing it with scripts."
"We had to do some work to make what was more of a business class solution work at an enterprise level."
"Look and feel."
"When using this solution in enterprise monitoring, you are able to see that there are some issues with equipment that could be causing a problem. Sometimes you want to make a root command that you do not want to be executed automatically. What we have tried to do is open an SSH session directly from the solution's interface but it is not possible."
"There's a small module of APM, however, it is not an enhanced version. People usually ask for a full-fledged APM solution."
"The dashboard and the graph section could be a little bit more professional."
"Sometimes, the documentation is a little bit written in Estonia – a country in Europe. The language barrier and translation to English can sometimes make it difficult to understand what they're trying to get at. It's just a language thing."
"In an upcoming release, there should be automated reports which we are currently doing manually. For example, if we collect a report file every day and want to send it to a moderator for review. We are expecting this feature to come out soon but it would be valuable to have now."
"Its UI should be improved. They did some improvements in version 5, but it could benefit from some more work. Its integrations should also be improved. They've been active for one year, and they seem to have noticed that. It has new integrations, but it could benefit from more integrations. As far as I know, there is no model to push statistics, metrics, or events towards Zabbix. This type of API isn't yet there, whereas some other tools provide an API for this."
"It could be more stable."
