We performed a comparison between Microsoft Powerapps and Oracle Application Express (APEX) based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Microsoft PowerApps finished ahead in this comparison. Microsoft PowerApps offers slightly better integrations with 3rd party applications and is considered to be more user-friendly. As Microsoft is a very popular ecosystem with many of our users, it is the simple choice for better seamless integration. Oracle’s APEX limitations outside of the Oracle universe presented too many challenges for our users.
"The features I find the most valuable are the 365 and Microsoft applications integrations and the automation."
"It offers integration with several Microsoft products, including SharePoint and Outlook, in my opinion, is a huge plus."
"The initial setup was very easy."
"The platform has valuable features for opportunity and finance management. It has all the essential features for customer service."
"The product is very user-friendly."
"It allows us to provide all the information in one single place."
"The most valuable feature is the completeness of the concept. It is not restricted by where you are allowed to use it and that is its greatest strength."
"The most valuable feature is the time-to-market because you can make apps pretty fast."
"A user interface is relatively simple to create."
"It has a well-designed architecture and is a simple 3rd party application."
"I particularly enjoy the web builder capabilities, especially the Page Designer. It offers so many elements or components to choose from, which is a major plus for me."
"Oracle APEX's reporting features are simple yet powerful. The ability to quickly create CRUD screens has simplified many RAD discovery processes, while the APEX environment allows the product owners and dev teams to quickly understand the complex solutions and employ usage statistics to identify areas requiring improvement. The option to add external JavaScript tools in screen development enables the development of complicated mobile or web usage scenarios in rare cases where the APEX UX is not enough."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to build very fast data-driven UIs."
"The solution can efficiently translate from English to another language including Arabic using the XLIFF format."
"It's stable and reliable for the most part."
"Oracle Application Express is easy to use, people don't have to be developers to use it."
"Microsoft PowerApps is not intended for customizing what's generated in a major way."
"The solution is evolving very fast and every month new features are introduced. Sometimes it's difficult to catch up with all the evolution that's happening. I had to focus on Power BI for a while and left PowerApps at the side for a couple of months and when I came back, it had changed its interface and moved components around."
"If the price was reduced and the quality of the user interfaces was improved it would be beneficial."
"One area where the solution lacks is the limited size of the database it offers its users."
"Microsoft could streamline monitoring and management. In addition, it should be easier to put the solution in different environments. For example, you should be able to move from a dev environment to a production environment seamlessly."
"Improvements to the capturing of geographic locations and integration with maps would raise my score of the product from seven point five to its maximum of ten."
"PowerApps is still a bit new compared to a slightly more mature product such as OutSystems."
"The product could be improved by making it a production application and enabling the export of apps."
"Apex has effectively incorporated new market trends into its features. The platform's user-friendly nature is notable, guiding developers through the development process. While advanced customization of the user interface with HTML and CSS is possible, the out-of-the-box options often suffice, providing 80-90% of the required functionality. The IDE is commendable, yet an enhancement in the Page Designer to allow a real-time preview of layout changes would be beneficial. Currently, running the page is necessary to visualize layout adjustments, but an immediate preview during the design phase would be a valuable improvement."
"In terms of improvement, there should be a greater focus on AI and machine learning tools in Oracle APEX."
"There is not a lot of Wiki help or in Google, but there is some."
"Fixing bugs is difficult because of how the HTML code is generated. It is not always broadly compatible with browsers."
"Being able to only design with HTML and CSS can be limiting as to what can be accomplished."
"Regarding features, the solution lacks the ability to integrate with different databases. Also, I feel that Oracle Application Express (APEX) is exclusively designed for other Oracle tools."
"The migration process is difficult in Oracle Application Express."
"The solution has some stability problems that need to be resolved."
