We performed a comparison between Trend Micro Apex One and Trend Micro Deep Security based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Trend Micro Apex One appears to be the superior solution. Any issues they are currently facing, they feel, will likely resolve with future updates. However, our reviewers found Trend Micro Deep Security to be expensive and difficult to deploy, and weren’t satisfied with the level of support.
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The solution was relatively easy to deploy."
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"The general anti-virus on offer is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"Its scalability and the central point of XDR so that all items are centrally reporting to one solution are the most valuable features."
"It's reduced administrative overhead."
"The features I found most valuable in this solution are the micro apps. I also value the dashboard that offers better visibility and helps protect machines from attacks."
"It is updated automatically without much intervention from our side. We can also get some reports easily."
"Its database is better than most of the endpoint protection solutions."
"I would emphasize the ease of use and the quality of operations. Trend Micro is quite stable."
"I like Apex One's DLP and EDR features. The DLP is a good solution because it allows you to push policies. Source detection is another one. It automatically detects malicious IPs, domains, and URLs. Most of the time, it works automatically, but sometimes it doesn't quarantine or block, so we have to perform remediation manually and delete the file or application through Power Shell."
"Very user-friendly interface, easy to understand."
"Trend Micro Deep Security is a complete solution and all the threat management has been taken care of."
"We've found stability to be great so far."
"Patch management is most valuable. The major selling point of Deep Security is that it is based on the cloud. Deep Security is for the servers and databases of data centers, and generally, for patch management, you have to shut down the machines, and then you have to restart them. So, they need shutdown time, which is a cost. Big enterprises don't want to shut down their database or their data center for any kind of patch. Deep Security creates a wall and downloads all patches. You install it on the cloud. So, it saves your server from any kind of intrusion or any kind of penetration, and whenever you get a chance or time, in six, eight, or nine months, you can physically download or install all those patches in one go. So, it saves you time. It also saves your shutdown time and keeps your data center safe."
"They release timely updates and have efficient prediction features for threat detection."
"It can scale well."
"The tool provides information on server activities and hosts."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"The solution is not stable."
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions"
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team."
"The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors."
"We have had some false positives with One Endpoint Security's ransomware detection. We received an alert, but it wasn't a ransomware attack. When we did an investigation, we found it was only malware."
"The integration capabilities of the solution could be improved."
"It should have a single agent as competitors are offering."
"The portal is a little bit slow in loading. The cloud portal or management control should be a little faster. There seems to be a lot of load on their servers over there. Maybe they are using one server for multiple customers. It would be great if they can increase server performance in the cloud. Its technical support and reporting can be improved. There is no proper reporting, and there is no PDF or things like that. They should include detailed reporting. An attack happened at a client's site, but we couldn't get the report on the same day. We were unable to provide a detailed report to our client. We approached the technical support, and even they didn't give proper answers. They need to improve the reporting capabilities, or the technical team should support us in providing these reports. They should include reporting in the solution. They should also insert sandbox analysis in Apex One."
"We do not have much control as we have to work with regional policies and regional support."
"We had issues with our system integrator who didn't have enough experience with Trend Micro. There aren't many enterprise customers in our country who use Trend Micro on the level that we are using it, so it might be a little too complex for them. Trend Micro is typically used in small companies that do not need all the advanced features that we are looking for. The integrators don't have experience deploying these features. The scope is broad, but Microsoft Defender is simpler."
"The solution could use signatureless detection."
"The solution should adjust its pricing for the smaller market we are in."
"If I had more reporting, the product would be an A plus."
"They are still working on the company integration from TippingPoint because this was a recent acquisition from a few years ago. So, a Tipping Point integration with Deep Security, having one single pane of glass dashboard, would provide us a simple use case."
"I would like to see an EDR function for the servers, as that would be useful for us."
"There is room for improvement with Trend Micro Deep Security, as there are instances where installations may need to be redone. There seem to be glitches when working with older Windows servers, such as those from 2003 or 2005, requiring us to uninstall and reinstall the product to resolve the issue."
"We have had some issues when it drains some of the resources of the server."
"Some of the reporting and integrations could be more robust."
"Their automation needs improvement."
"Trend Micro Deep Security security and scalability could be improved."
