We performed a comparison between Jamf Pro and SOTI MobiControl based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Intune can wipe devices. For example, if a disgruntled employee wants to leak the data on their company phone, Intune can terminate their access and wipe the entire device with a click."
"It is very easy to use. It has a very easy interface."
"The solution is easy to use, simple to understand for those new to using it, and combined with the other Microsoft products it makes for an overall good package."
"The tool's most valuable feature is Autopilot."
"I like how Microsoft Intune lets me lock down the email profile and make it accessible only on certain devices."
"The device profiling which uses the official Outlook email enabled us to control the screenshot feature and prevent copying outside of the organization's application."
"The initial setup is not complex."
"The technical support of Microsoft Intune is good."
"The most valuable feature is the self-service, which lets users install their preferred application instead of installing all applications and filling the machine with junk."
"Having the ability to automate our workflows has been great."
"We can see every single Mac is on which macOS version so we can help users if needed to update their Macs to a saved and current version."
"I can set policies to manage devices by many variables OR keep it simple by leveraging DEP to assign new devices the standard apps."
"We found the initial setup to be simple."
"Apple School Manager integration and access to VPP content made the integration of devices into our fleet flawless and application installation much simpler and faster."
"I have found the most valuable feature to be the policies."
"The most valuable features are the Jamf agent and the API."
"The most valuable features of SOTI MobiControl include location tracking, geofencing, remote device control, and SOTI self-service mobile browsers."
"The remote control we have helps us a lot."
"The most valuable features are remote control, remote monitoring of the mobile phone data, GPS localization, automobile network management, identity management, speaker logging, and remote management of mobile content."
"The company's support is the best. That'd be the number one thing."
"We can do auto patch updates using SOTI. SOTI has been well placed in terms of the number of endpoints it can handle."
"The SOTI MobiControl Assist tool is very good for remote controlling devices for troubleshooting. SOTI MobiControl is very helpful."
"The most valuable features of the solution are containerization and app control."
"It is a scalable solution."
"Enhancements for managing MacOS more comprehensively would be beneficial."
"More integration with monitoring tools is needed."
"When Microsoft Intune is used with different android devices it does not always work as it is supposed to."
"It would be better if I could integrate it with my core group policy. I would like to have a group policy in my current environment, which has strict control, but those things are still missing. Although it has maximum compliance and security, it's not available on-premise."
"While Intune works perfectly well, the only potential downside is that the deployment could be a bit complex for some users."
"The mobile and tablet-based versions need improvement because they are not completely user-friendly, compared to the web version. Also, data synchronization with our existing asset manager, the synchronization between multiple assets and multiple devices, takes a lot of time due to the security scanning. It should be reduced."
"One big problem with Microsoft is that they're changing the names of the products quite often, or they're quite consistently doing so. Intune is now Endpoint administration. Constantly switching the user interface or the administrative interface makes it quite hard to keep pace. If you are on a two-week holiday and you come back and look at the same screen you have looked at for the last couple of months, it looks different, which is annoying. Changing things around all the time doesn't make it easy."
"I'd like some more reporting so that I don't have to delve into PowerShell and I can pull more of the local device information such as memory, apps installed, etc. It would be nice to be able to see the apps that are present there but might not be managed. For example, if they installed 7Zip, it could report that back via an installed program or feature to see what was currently installed."
"Simple things like finding policies, configuration profiles, and smart computer groups that are not used by any client could be easier."
"For Windows, we have a reset option. We'd that option available for Mac."
"The patch management is not automated in any way, and you have to do a lot of manual work to upload the current version of applications."
"For patch management in Jamf, two Smart Groups are required as patch policies cannot be scoped as of now. This is not a major issue, as there is a great workaround by using a wrapped "member of" duplicate Smart Group. However, being able to avoid two Smart Groups for patch management would be nice."
"The self Service UI needs some real improvement; they recently revamped the app, but I don't know if those changes have been for the better."
"The dashboard needs to be customizable."
"Jamf Pro currently is only used on Mac computers and could improve by having compatibility with other operating systems. We have to use other tools to manage our Windows and Android devices. There could be other improvements but I am still exploring and learning more about the features."
"There should be an option for exporting the data for reporting purposes so that we can give that to the higher-ups, such as CIO. We should be able to see bar graphs and charts on different data points. It would be great to have a good reporting tool to look at, for example, data points of how many versions of Adobe Acrobat we have in our environment in a bar graph or pie chart. They don't have anything like that. There is an application called Tableau Reader, which does statistics, and you can put a statistical or analytical aspect in there to extract data and share it on a graph or a pie chart. Such a tool would be great."
"There is room for improvement in the support."
"In future releases, I would like to see a better configuration of the dashboard."
"SOTI MobiControl is very good for Android and Windows, but it should add a little bit on the Apple side because it doesn't have much control on the Apple side."
"The scalability is horizontal, not vertical. One machine has to have all the accounts. That's one of the issues that we have found with scalability: You always have to keep the same machine. If you want to add a second machine, you need to split the account and that removes flexibility of management."
"Maybe if there were tiers, it would be better as then companies could lower the pricing by going to the lower deployment model."
"I wish that I had some more tutorials and educational resources on how to use the product."
"Where they need improvement is not as much on the technical side but, rather, on their communication. In general, that has been poor. Account management and communication could be greatly improved..."
"Companies like SOTI and Mobile Iron are working with Google to help them manage these devices and eliminate the use of bar code scanner sales and mobile device sales. That's kind of crazy."
