We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very scalable.""DX UIM is scalable.""We are able to go in and actually leverage the thick client for a nice easy drag and drop solution.""The number of probes available. Out of the box, I believe about 200 probes are available. And, if there's a probe that is not available, you can write one. You can also go to the communities and suggest, and based on demand, CA will write one for you.""It gives us visibility inside applications. It helps us to dig down and find the root cause of any issue within the network.""It is easy to implement.""It is easy to implement but requires good planning.""Monitors the infrastructure asset and also monitors as an IT service."

"The most valuable feature is its integration with CMDB, as it collects all the data.""The best part about ServiceNow Discovery is that it is included in the ServiceNow suite.""ServiceNow Discovery has played a vital role in improving service visibility through automated IT service management processes, including change and problem management.""Discovery enables us to get an accurate inventory that's updated daily. It eliminates human error and the need for people to update configuration changes manually. We have not implemented them yet but plan to set up alerts on CIs that are being audited to see if there are any changes.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward.""It is a stable solution...The initial setup of the product is straightforward.""It's pretty robust, and it's agentless for the most part. So, you don't need to deploy agents, which makes it a lot easier to stand up.""The process involving the original setup of the solution is excellent."

Cons
"We had to do some work to make what was more of a business class solution work at an enterprise level.""I'm very happy with DX Unified Infrastructure Management, but what could be improved is its user interface because currently, it has many wide spaces. All the information you need is in DX Unified Infrastructure Management, and it's a reliable tool, and though that's more important than the gaps in the user interface being smaller or wider, those gaps still need some improvement. I know the team is working on it. My company had some backend problems with DX Unified Infrastructure Management in the past that have now been solved. The setup for the tool also needs improvement because it's complex. Another room for improvement in DX Unified Infrastructure Management is its technical support because it's sometimes not as knowledgeable or responsive. What I'm suggesting to be added to the tool is an open-standard ELK Elastic-based database where you can put in all data, so that you can use the data in other systems as well.""It would be good to implement views showing the aggregated status graphically.""The company has not kept pace with developments.""Stability.""Currently lacks a mobile application which would be helpful.""It needs a little bit more functionality in the Admin Console.""Reporting capability can be improved especially when it comes to availability."

More DX Unified Infrastructure Management Cons →

"Whenever you try to discover something with the solution, you get errors that are not descriptive enough.""Technical support has not been helpful when we have come across problems.""Instead of AI, even GenAI should be introduced in ServiceNow Discovery.""ServiceNow Discovery should improve its cloud capabilities.""ServiceNow Discovery should be updated to provide its users with more out-of-the-box information and attributes to support the routers and switches from Cisco.""On the Software Asset Management part of it, I expect additional reconciliation and Discovery features there.""ServiceNow Discovery could improve the interface. The navigation bar could improve. It would be helpful to have a landing page to go to find all the elements in one place.""Debugging is a bit tough in ServiceNow Discovery, so debugging should be made very easy."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."

  • "This solution is a paid option within the ServiceNow framework."
  • "It's a bit expensive compared to other products in the market, but it's worth the money you pay because it's far advanced in terms of features, automation, and capabilities compared to other products."
  • "There is a subscription for ServiceNow Discovery. It's expensive, but I think it's one of the best solutions on the market, so it's worth it."
  • "The price could be better. It's a bit on the pricey side."
  • "It is an expensive product with a price that depends on the models that you wish to purchase."
  • "It costs a lot. It is probably close to over a hundred thousand. It's an expensive platform, but you can't compare ServiceNow's Discovery functionality to other discovery tools. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison of ServiceNow to a configuration management tool to an asset management tool because it does those things, but it's not those things."
  • "You need a subscription to ServiceNow Discovery, so you can use its features. You can also use specific plugins with the tool, and some of the plugins are free. I don't have information on how much my company pays for the subscription to ServiceNow Discovery."
  • "The solution is very expensive."
