We performed a comparison between Nagios Core and Splunk ITSI (IT Service Intelligence) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Network Monitoring Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"The single dashboard is a valuable feature."
"Dashboard provides monitor of total assets."
"The most valuable feature of Nagios Core is it allows us to develop and add as many plugins as we want."
"The most valuable feature depends on the project. It's great if you need to check to ensure a service is running 24/7. I can use the full solution for free, and it's flexible. If I need to add a dashboard, I can integrate it with Nagios. Cloud synchronization is wonderful."
"I like that it's very simple to install, easy to manage and deploy, and easy to use for monitoring."
"Nagios monitors our servers, so we know if anything goes wrong and can solve the problem before it happens."
"It is fairly easy to set up, and we can monitor pretty much everything we want to."
"Our customers like that Nagios Core is an open source solution. It can be customized to our customers' specific needs."
"The most valuable features are the reports and the way it generates the report in a graphical manner."
"Alerts and episodes are valuable to me."
"Splunk Episodes are valuable because it correlates and aggregates all the information, and you do not have one million events to look at and triage, so it is quite convenient."
"The most valuable features are the agility, being able to ingest many data sources with no limitation on capacity."
"We liked the built-in calculation of health scores."
"We save substantial time on monitoring tasks because we don't have to search for what we need. Everything is packed, so you can drill down to the end values by just doing the kit. We don't spend a lot of time on this. Splunk ITSI is easy to use and not time-consuming."
"The glass tables are very helpful."
"In my opinion, Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) is better than QRadar. With the help of Splunk, we can get results."
"The observability is great and valuable."
"The technical support needs improvement."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"We're using the free version, which limits us in terms of the things that we can do. If we had the paid version, a lot of our issues would probably go away. For example, we can't isolate instances that are being built or updated with the production ones. When they're being built, on Nagios, they're showing in red. It'd be nice to be able to partition those off until they're all green, and then we can bring them into the environment. This is probably because we've got the free version and not the paid version. If we went for the paid version, it would probably allow us to do exactly what we want to or remove the restrictions that we have, but if we are able to isolate instances in the free version, it would make life much easier."
"I believe Nagios Core will need to provide an option for big data platforms in the future."
"I would like to see more training videos."
"The scalability needs improvement, it's not scalable at this time."
"Bandwidth monitoring is the pain point for me because Nagios Core does not monitor bandwidth effectively like Cacti does."
"The core version is no match for the XI version."
"There is room for improvement in the graphics."
"Making it a little easier to configure and set up from the start would help. There are multiple layers that you have to wade through to be able to set it up, to do it the right way, and to get it to do what you want it to do."
"I believe the refresh time should be faster."
"We're using predictive analytics, and there are three or four algorithms. It would be helpful if this process were more standardized and scalable."
"If the product had some prebuilt machine learning features, it would add value to our use cases."
"It would be good if an interface was included in the next release."
"We have problems doing upgrades and operating alternate new versions."
"We experience occasional delays in receiving solutions from Splunk technical support. Splunk's support for P3 cases seems inadequate, as they frequently switch support personnel. For instance, in a single P3 case, we had three different technical support representatives assigned. We were ultimately forced to escalate the issue to our account manager to get it resolved. In essence, we never receive complete support from a single point of contact; instead, the support team keeps changing, necessitating us to explain the problem from scratch each time."
"It would be advantageous to enhance the dashboard by incorporating sections for monitoring, service health, and a filter for the KPIs."
"Predictive analytics, in terms of preventing incidents before they occur, still needs time to mature."
