We performed a comparison between Splunk ITSI (IT Service Intelligence) and Zabbix based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Observability solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We liked the built-in calculation of health scores."
"I find the episode review, glass tables, and correlation search features very useful."
"ITSI's most valuable feature is that it's easy to integrate DLP."
"One particularly useful feature of Splunk ITSI is the ability to create custom services."
"ITSI provides a visual representation of complex tools and context, using color coding and other features to make it easy for anyone at the monitoring or service desk to use."
"Splunk ITSI helps us secure our environment by allowing us to create automatons that run when alerts are triggered."
"Alerts and episodes are valuable to me."
"The observability is great and valuable."
"The template system in Zabbix is very beneficial as it saves time in configuration."
"The most valuable features are the monitoring and the ease with which we can set it up at customer sites with our custom Zabbix proxy and tools."
"The most valuable feature is network traffic monitoring."
"We use Zabbix to monitor our organization's IT infrastructure and workstations. We don't use Microsoft Intune since it's expensive. The tool's real-time alerting system has proved crucial for us, particularly when a new device joins a network that is not one of our own devices. It notifies us about the presence of this new device, allowing us to investigate further. Additionally, it alerts us about disk usage, memory usage, and the software installed on the machine."
"The flexibility of this solution is amazing."
"The initial setup was not complex."
"I'm supervising all the IT departments, and Zabbix seems quite good for them. It provides graphics and information in real time. We get alerts about crashes on the system, enabling us to quickly repair issues. We can easily find devices with problems."
"The performance and bandwidth are valuable features."
"We're getting alerts with delays of maybe five minutes, however, we'd like to see real-time alerting in the future."
"It would be good if an interface was included in the next release."
"Microservices is the only area where Splunk ITSI can be improved. When things come from one EC2 instance to another, there's a lack of exposure to microservices, so we can't know what's happening. Apart from that, it's doing pretty well."
"The data recovery has room for improvement."
"After upgrading Splunk ITSI from version 4.11 to 4.13, the analyzer stopped finding values for KPS and services."
"The cost of the license could be lower."
"We have problems doing upgrades and operating alternate new versions."
"The end-to-end visibility in Splunk ITSI is limited and has room for improvement."
"Zabbix can use better documentation and support for troubleshooting."
"Zabbix does not draw automatic mapping of the network, this is something they should add in the future. There is a lot of effort that is involved in tailoring some of the settings which could be made easier."
"The networking monitor is not too easy to work with."
"The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues."
"Look and feel."
"They should open an SSH session from the web interface."
"The GUI could be more intuitive. Also, we'd like streaming telemetry. Zabbix might have this feature, but I haven't seen it yet. It took us a long time to get started because the documentation isn't very descriptive. We had to go through various sources like YouTube and forums to get this solution working."
"The APM monitoring has room for improvement, although I hear that the new 5.2 version has some improvements in that area, and I'd like to give that a go. I would like to see a few more templates out there for different styles of monitoring. I use the Grafana interface for reporting. I would also like it to have an out-of-the-box ability to email reports. You can create reports, but to be able to email those reports would be really helpful. I've got users who are not interested in logging in and generating a report. They want it all pre-canned and sent to an email address. It would also be really handy if we could pin certain reports up onto platforms such as Teams or SharePoint. A GUI for the proxy server would be cool to have for debugging purposes and for the support teams to have a look at, but I don't know whether that's really feasible to do. I get enough from the log files themselves."
