Find out in this report how the two Cloud Backup solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It works well as a backup and as a service."
"The solution has an effective overwrite feature."
"The most valuable feature is its ease of use."
"We can directly back up EC2 instances in AWS without using any third-party applications."
"The auto-scaling feature and the time efficiency of setting up AWS Backup are the most valuable aspects for us."
"The solution's most valuable features are its backup capability and tight integration with other AWS services."
"Reporting is one of the key elements that are valuable for C-suite executives. In terms of monitoring, the solution provides comprehensive details into ongoing processes, flagging issues and warnings as necessary."
"It is an easy-to-use solution."
"In terms of the speed of backup, it operates seamlessly, so I'd rate it as excellent... with my daily use and workload, quite honestly I don't even notice when it backs up."
"HyperScale X is really user-friendly and has a lot of features. It's also cheaper, faster, and more stable than its competitors."
"Commvault gives us a single platform to manage and recover our data. Since we are a research organization, backup is one of the most critical parts of our IT operations and services. Internally, we run it as a managed service, and there is a single console that makes it easy for management to see the performance."
"The product is a reliable solution."
"There are many valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X giving many possibilities to complete jobs."
"We use the solution for cloud and data backup."
"We can go from one page to another page, from office backups to VM backups, or applications like secret backups. So everything can be configured or restored from a single pin."
"The product is user-friendly."
"It requires a lot of time to connect the snapshot, identify the files, and restore a single file manually."
"It could be less expensive."
"They should work on their visual capabilities."
"The tool is a good fit if your environment is VM-specific. However, it might not be the most suitable option if you have physical servers or an on-premise setup."
"For additional functionalities, it should be more intelligent, like more AI-capabilities."
"Only the price could be improved."
"When it comes to encrypting data, it is not so convenient."
"One improvement I would like to see in AWS Backup is the implementation of incremental backups."
"Getting my guys the right access has a learning curve. Sometimes, it is, "Oh, okay. I think I got it for you." Then, they say, "Oh, nope. I logged in but I can't see this." Then, it is, "Okay, hold on. Give me a second. Let me change that. Okay, it's this one." That learning curve has probably taken a little bit longer than some simpler things. So, Metallic has some granularity, and as a systems administrator, I appreciate that. At the same time, I also realize that I have to learn it."
"It takes a lot of steps to implement backups. We have to do a lot of planning to make the solution work properly. It takes some time to create every policy. It's an easy task, but there are many steps. It's not as easy as using Veeam."
"Commvault HyperScale X is more expensive for hybrid environments than traditional solutions."
"If I were to ask them to work on something, it would be the fidelity of the alerts that occur. They should tell me if it is a real event or not. It is easy for it to identify that something hit it but give me more information. They can build AI into the engine so that I get better output from an alert to tell me if I should really be interested in that or not."
"They can improve the VMware recovery and VMware backup. There is an improvement area on the VMware infrastructure. They can make available what they call a VSA proxy. They can have an appliance-type setup to deploy VSA backups and help recover quicker. They can have an appliance ready. Instead of having to have a server dedicated to that and installing software on a server, they can just provide an actual appliance for that."
"In an upcoming release, the reports could be better."
"Suppose I am restoring a particular file. If I want to restore the permissions only from that particular folder, that is not possible. I have to restore all the data for that particular folder. If there was an option to just restore the permissions, that would be better."
"It does not have an easy deployment. The deployment is not something that just anybody can go in and deploy."
