We performed a comparison between IBM MaaS360 and Sophos Mobile based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The main advantage is that Intune performs its intended functions effectively."
"It's very informative when there is an error. It allows us to backtrace where the error is and resolve that ourselves. It's a bit of a Swiss Army penknife. We find that it fixes most issues."
"Conditional access has helped us tailor and enforce our security policies in the mobile space."
"It's easy to manage and easy to configure."
"Its direct integration with all the other products that we have from Microsoft is valuable. We're using the E5 license, and we have a whole wealth of different products available. It just makes it easier to have everything from one provider."
"I like that it's very good and very simple. I found that we just needed to have a proper subscription for an Intune tenant, and from the subscription, if we have the right role assigned, like the global admin role or the owner role, we can use Microsoft cloud resources. With the help of that, we can do many things like setting up Microsoft Intune in the cloud to create our virtual machines. All these can be done, and the steps are very simple. I really liked it. I like features like Windows Auto-Enrollment. I like it very much because whenever you supply it to the end-user, it will be ready to use immediately. The end-user only needs to provide the user credentials, and then they are good to go. I also really like Cloud PC, which was recently launched on Azure."
"We have a BYOD policy, and this solution helps us manage our devices."
"Intune enables us to manage our devices from anywhere."
"The ability to send an iPad out to someone and have them auto-provision it when they are out in the field is fantastic. We don't have to have it all configured before we ship it. This is probably the biggest value add."
"The best feature is the ability to control mobile phones, wipe and containerize the data, and keep employees' work data separate from personal data."
"The tool's most valuable features are application, distribution, and security. It helps to block user access."
"It is a stable solution."
"Maas360 uses distribution groups to deploy apps, which makes it a bit easier than, for example, Intune."
"It allows us to have an updated inventory of all the devices in real-time with the ability to add personalized information."
"It is a stable solution that functions twenty-four hours and seven days a week."
"My customers value the ability to control all their devices from a central point in IBM MaaS360."
"The solution provides us with data protection."
"The most valuable feature is the mobile device management capability. You can easily manage all of your mobile devices."
"They always add more features to this product."
"The management and enrollment process is great, and with the asset management and instant action menu, we can easily maintain and support the users."
"The remote management and cloud-based maintenance features of this solution are very useful for our organization."
"In terms of valuable features, we liked the lock feature, the roll-out white feature, and the find feature. I think that Sophos had a GPS locator, so you could figure out where the phone was from a GPS location."
"I like the level of interaction that the product offers with the other products in our company's environment."
"The initial setup process is straightforward and fast."
"It would help if administrators could pinpoint the exact location of a stolen device to help law enforcement retrieve it and apprehend the suspect."
"The reports aren't complete, and it's not easy to build custom reports. For example, Windows Autopilot isn't working well in cases where the computers don't have a good internet connection. Then the option is not good enough."
"It just doesn't handle software updates well at all by itself. You need to be a scripting wizard to make those happen properly, or you use third-party tools. The Windows feature updates are very difficult to implement. I would like to see a proprietary built-in remote control tool. I know that they have Team Viewer integrated, but it is not seamless. It would be nice if they had a seamless remote desktop capability directly from the Intune console."
"Intune has limited integration with non-Microsoft solutions."
"The configuration and pricing can be improved."
"Areas for improvement in Intune include expanding support beyond Samsung devices to accommodate other Android manufacturers like Redmi and Motorola."
"The pricing can be expensive if you are not combining it with other products."
"One big problem with Microsoft is that they're changing the names of the products quite often, or they're quite consistently doing so. Intune is now Endpoint administration. Constantly switching the user interface or the administrative interface makes it quite hard to keep pace. If you are on a two-week holiday and you come back and look at the same screen you have looked at for the last couple of months, it looks different, which is annoying. Changing things around all the time doesn't make it easy."
"Configuring policies is difficult in IBM MaaS360. It also needs to improve usability."
"It's difficult for someone like me to set up a phone that doesn't require a SIM card, like Apple's new phones."
"The price could be lower."
"The reporting and alerting could be improved."
"The interface is clunky and the layout is a bit outdated. Also, I don't think MaaS360 has as many features as Intune. It doesn't integrate with Office as seamlessly as Intune does, which isn't surprising, given that Intune and Office are Microsoft products."
"Its integration with Microsoft Teams could be better."
"IBM MaaS360 can improve the location reporter. There is a 15-minute delay and this does not allow for any usefulness."
"We opted to go with Microsoft Intune because it just seemed to be a more mature and comprehensive enterprise solution, whereas IBM MaaS360 didn't seem to have the necessary breadth to manage all of our equipment. Along with laptops, I've had some BYODs. IBM MaaS360 just didn't seem as mature in our assessment."
"For Sophos Mobile, it is difficult to get good support."
"We encounter issues while working with iOS."
"To manage the Apple devices is not that straightforward there are a lot of features the other third parties solutions are offering which Sophos Mobile is not."
"They continue to work on integration with mobile device management and mobile security. They are improving the protection but I think that the capabilities still need to be enhanced."
"Our support reps are based in the Philippines, and it's hard to connect with them sometimes. It took me about two months to resolve my issue, so it wasn't a good experience."
"It could be more secure."
"In terms of what could be improved, the initial configuration and setup of the environment could probably be made a little bit easier. There are so many pieces that go into it. Intune is absolutely insane and Sophos is better, but it still is a bit complex to get it all set up correctly."
"We would like to see graphics showing the use of each device."
