We performed a comparison between Automation Anywhere and UiPath based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Both products received excellent feedback from reviewers. UiPath has an advantage over Automation Anywhere due to its high performance, excellent support, and easy deployment. One area where Automation Anywhere did come out on top was in the Pricing category.
"Automation Anywhere includes IQ Bots. So, IQ Bots is the key part of Automation Anywhere. You can work on any type of PDF, images, invoices, or billing things in any company. You can just upload it and extract the data, then use it as you require. It is a key part of Automation Anywhere: the best part."
"IQ Bot is something which is going to disrupt the market in the future. We... are particularly impressed with the evolution of IQ Bot and the kind of disruption it is bringing to the OCR space."
"The tool is a huge time saver. If I want to do something manually, it will take half an hour, but the bot can do the task within minute or seconds. In a day, month, or year, this will be a huge amount of time for me. A reduction to a fraction of seconds will be a big impact."
"It is easy to install and use."
"It improves accuracy and reduces manpower. It is easy to learn."
"The bot creation process is easy, manageable, and everything is well-organized for a developer. Everything is centralized."
"Using this solution has freed internal operations employees to do more "human value-add" work by removing mundane manual tasks."
"Web-based control is the most valuable feature. We can access it from anywhere in the world with the control room URL and in any browser. Bot Insights make our report generation and other insights view easier. We can export the data in the form of CSV, PDF, etc."
"The robots work where you can scale additional servers. They just need a place to work and a process to perform, then you can add-on. Ten bots can easily turn into a hundred bots, then those can turn into a thousand bots. From a scalability aspect, it's great."
"UiPath Orchestrator is very user-friendly and easy to understand."
"Being able to understand that your path is structured as a process flow, you are still able to declare variables, and ensure the background logic is sound. You are also able to really visualize what the process needs to do and the paths that it needs to take: true, false, etc. So, it has been very useful in terms of crafting it."
"The ease of building automations is a 10 out of 10. It automates our tasks faster and gives us positive and accurate results."
"The time to value is excellent on this solution."
"UiPath has improved our organization; the primary difference introduced by the application of the UiPath tool is the speed of processing and accuracy in the data processing."
"The Orchestrator is great because you schedule it, and that's it, you don't have to worry about it."
"UiPath is straightforward and easy to use, even for those without coding knowledge."
"We tried Citrix six months ago, but the solution that they gave us did not work in our environment."
"I would like to see more complex use cases coming out for our industry."
"Automation Anywhere should add a couple of commands which will help most developers not to always use a script, a good example is in String operations."
"When working with Excel, unlike other tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere does not have the standard variables for .Net data types."
"When we need to upgrade the bot version for various applications like SAP, the compatibility issues could be easier to resolve. The financial team is using version 5 or 6, but the automation engineer recommends only version 6 because it is more compatible. I think Automation Anywhere could handle these compatibility issues better."
"The biggest issue was that the new license required upgraded hardware infrastructure so we were getting all new tech stuff procured which meant that we were getting updated RAMs and things like that. Getting the licenses was easier but building the infrastructure which was required to support the new version was difficult."
"We have some ERPs tools which are not compatible with Automation Anywhere because they are legacy systems. We find that Automation Anywhere does not work with these at times. Just enabling the usability of Automation Anywhere on some of these legacy ERPs would help us, as we struggle regularly with this issue."
"Extracting customer addresses from Google that are not in a standard URL format is a challenge for Automation Anywhere."
"I rate UiPath support six out of 10. It's primarily an email-based model. Sometimes we have questions, and it takes days for them to respond and sort our issue out."
"The UI and processes sometimes freeze, so it would be good to see some improvement there. The system configuration and internet speed also have some impact on this."
"UiPath could add more interactive features that enable you to explore and design processes from scratch. There should be more features that support the digital transformation process from the design phase. In the current data panel, you need to start with a process that's already in place."
"I would like to see more support for the cloud in Australia."
"In the UiPath Academy, there's not much documentation for Document Understanding and Process Mining. Documentation for some of the newer tools needs to be added to the UiPath Academy."
"You can't get the response that you want until the people in the field decide that they want to change and adopt it. That will be the challenge. Managing the change is huge for us. It's always an obstacle. It's not that, can you automate something, it's more of a question of, internally, will they let you automate something?"
"UiPath can improve its AI and optical character recognition or OCR."
"Updating the tool across multiple virtual machines can be time-consuming and somewhat cumbersome."

My question to you would be - Why are you mixing the two vendors? Do you have licenses for both and are trying to maximize investment?
If you have IBM automation you probably have other IBM technology - let the IBM automation run on that as its integration is a little more complicated than UiPath and may cost you time in execution.
If you have both IBM and UiPath then I would use UiPath for any areas that are not integral to the IBM technology or systems.
I would need to know a little more about your strategy before giving a definitive answer to your question but all 3 are good technical foundations depending on the scenario.
RPA technology has been in the market for quite some time now. Benefits are quite common for all platforms. Every day a new platform is being introduced. You should check whether you want to automate the simple process(es), that does not consume 100% of an agent to execute, or you want to automate a complex End-to-End process, how many departments are involved, business/IT systems and data source needs to be accessed. For example the difference between a Question/Answer chatbot or a Cognitive bot that understands human language and access any corporate systems to solve the issue of the requester autonomously.
Can you start really small, through a consumption model, or implement the full-blown system at once with lots of idle time of the agent while developing the processes to be automated. Many times the required infrastructure can be costly when growing the implementation.
How are the processes implemented, how much can be done drag&drop and how much needs complex scripting. Ease of maintenance in the long term. What are the standard technologies that are available? Does it include ETL, AI/ML, API, or OCR as standard, optional or integrated with as part of the platform?
Many technical and business factors come into play and should be reviewed before even looking at a platform.
If you are looking at a high level, IBM’s digital business automation looks like something that will work well for IBM products with pre-built integration packages. On the other hand, Automation Anywhere or UiPath also offers automation that support multiple technology. If you are looking for any specific guidance having technology in the center, I will be able to add some more view points. Fundamentally all the leading RPA products do not differentiate themselves much as of now in terms of capabilities. In licensing models products come up with variations.
You don't need anything else to use besides UiPath.
The platform covers every area and you'll have the full capabilities to do whatever you need. I think you just need more guidance on achieving the full power of UiPath.
Good luck!
Although I've worked with UiPath (not Automation Anywhere), my experience is now solely with AutoMate from Help Systems.
I would recommend aligning IBM's digital business automation with Robotic Process Automation and how it works. It seems to be a very different tool from RPA. If programming is required in the use of IBM's digital business automation go with RPA.
