Stable and scalable, but should have a simpler initial setup, better reporting features and a more up-to-date interface
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is stable."
  • "The reporting features should be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We are involved in entertainment.

We offer our clients many brands, some of which are connected with media and radio. As publishers, we offer our customers a host of publishing subscriptions and employ the solution, email and SMS campaigns, pop-ups, web push and various other channels to sell these.

What is most valuable?

There is nothing particularly valuable which encourages us to stick with this solution. We do so because it suits our needs and we pay for several custom solutions.

What needs improvement?

I am used to the interface, so I do not consider how outdated it is too be an issue, but I feel it could better. It seems a throwback to the nineteen-eighties.

The initial setup was complex.

The reporting features should be improved. We have fielded complaints from our marketers about this.

While the solution has many capabilities, it can sometimes pose a difficulty, which is why I advise engaging a company for assistance.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Eloqua for nearly three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For the moment, the solution is scalable.

We do not make extensive use of the solution. We use it daily with the many companies with which we work for its sending abilities.

I am not aware of plans to increase the usage.

How are customer service and support?

We work with a company that is responsible for handling issues which may arise involving tech support.

I am not the right person for assessing this.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In the past, we used an email solution - although not marketing automation - as a simple application for sending mass emails.

How was the initial setup?

I found the initial setup to be complex.

What about the implementation team?

There is an Orax partner company with which we work that was responsible for the implementation.

I believe that a large staff is needed for the deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing costs are yearly.

I do not know if there are additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees. I am aware of the license we pay for and we pay for custom solutions, such as pop-up and web push, which are connected with Oracle Eloqua.

What other advice do I have?

I am both a user and administrator of the solution.

The solution is cloud-based.

I believe there are 20 users making use of the solution, mainly marketers.

I rate Oracle Eloqua as a seven out of ten, although I cannot say how it would be rated by someone in marketing, as I am an administrator.

We have been using Eloqua for four years and it has revolutionized our credibility as a marketing department with the sales team

Valuable Features:

The best asset of Eloqua is how they have turned their customer and prospect base into a community and branded them as Eloquans. The product itself in the new E10 platform is very intuitive and delivers high end functionality for all members or our team from the creative side, to campaign execution, and lead generation/management.

Room for Improvement:

There are some limitations with the platform in terms of creativity. While you can upload assets to make it easy using the editor for all marketing members to use it, if you are going to upload code it doesn't always translate the best.Overall, we've been very pleased with Eloqua, not only in the delivery of our communications, and setting up automation, but also how it has strengthened our relationship with the sales team due to the ever improving litany of sales enablement tools. The integration to Salesforce allows us to take advantage of three highly valuable sales enablement tools: Prospect Profiler, Discover, and Engage. We have seen tremendous year after year growth of revenue tied to marketing because of campaigns, events, and promotions we have run through Eloqua. Furthermore, they have a great community of users who are helpful and very open to sharing ideas and ways of getting the most out of Eloqua that continue to push the results delivered by the tool set.

A cost-effective solution to get feeds from multiple sources and generate email campaigns

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for the marketing process. We get feeds from multiple sources, generate email campaigns, and lead management. We perform the lead scoring.

What is most valuable?

The scoring module is the best, along with the campaigns feature that we trigger from the tool.

What needs improvement?

Oracle has introduced new products such as CDP, which integrates with Eloqua. There have been concerns about data consistency and discrimination, highlighting areas for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Eloqua as a platinum partner for three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There was zero downtime, and the upgrades didn't impact the functionality.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

One customer has around 200 users, while the other has around 2000 users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

We've contacted Oracle Eloqua support several times, especially when encountering challenges or issues while trying to meet specific business requirements. When the product's capabilities seemed insufficient, we engaged with the Oracle support team for assistance. On multiple occasions, we've even suggested enhancements to the product to better align with our requirements, potentially benefiting other customers, too.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. Unlike previous days, where installation and configuration could be complex and time-consuming, modern cloud-based solutions like Eloqua offer a much simpler process. With cloud deployment, you can subscribe to the service and begin using it without requiring extensive installation procedures. Customization options allow you to tailor the platform to your business requirements.

What about the implementation team?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution has a competitive pricing and if you negotiate, they'll give you a very good discount.

What other advice do I have?

First, it's essential to carefully assess whether Oracle Eloqua is genuinely beneficial for your needs. You must understand your business requirements thoroughly before seeking a suitable product. If Eloqua aligns with your marketing needs, you can consider proceeding with it. Alternatively, CDP might be a better fit if your requirements involve extensive configuration and integration with multiple products within the company. On the other hand, if you're dealing with various aspects like managing sales, service, marketing, and workflows involving numerous customers, Oracle Sales Cloud CRM could be a suitable option. However, if your focus is solely on sales, then Oracle Sales may suffice. Ultimately, your choice should be driven by your specific needs, allowing you to make an informed decision.

It is easy for a beginner to learn to use Oracle. There are a lot of tutorials and content available online. You can quickly learn Eloqua.

Analytics are available in Oracle Eloqua. However, it primarily provides data within the Eloqua platform and doesn't integrate external data sources or applications. Therefore, if you require a comprehensive overview of your organization beyond Eloqua data, you may need to explore other analytics tools. Customers opt to integrate Oracle Eloqua with their CRM platform to access sales and lead-related information. Popular choices for CRM platforms include Salesforce and Seabills, among others. Oracle Eloqua is highly compatible with these platforms, facilitating seamless integration for data flow between downstream and upstream systems.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

I love that this product takes the guesswork...

Valuable Features:

I love that this product takes the guesswork out of marketing. Emotion and opinion are eliminated and decisions are made on the data from your prospects and customers. The Eloqua sales tools are also a differentiator. Eloqua marries the relationship between marketing and sales

Room for Improvement:

I would love to see the social suite capabilities enhanced.

I suppose the time has started when contexts relevant marketing, tracking for conversions wisely, re-targeting with improvised strategies for selective rather than all, and educating customer with genuine differentiation with hot button available for customers not just to CIO, should drive the platform to stay on top;

Highly stable and the installation was straightforward
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was straightforward."
  • "The solution could improve by having a more user-friendly interface."

What is our primary use case?

We mainly use Oracle Eloqua for marketing, creation of assets, tracking, and reporting.

What needs improvement?

The solution could improve by having a more user-friendly interface.

In the next release, there could be better integration, use of more than one channel, and increased automation options in one platform. It would be easier to be able to do everything from one solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Eloqua within the past 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is really good. We have not had any problems.

How are customer service and technical support?

There needs to be more detailed help documentation.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used another solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

We use a consultant to help us do the implementation of the solution. We had a team of five that did the implementation and we have approximately two individuals that do the maintenance.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Oracle Eloqua a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

The segmentation and email creation features are the most critical to my job

What is our primary use case?

Marketing: email sending, the creation of segments, tracking, analysis, landing page development, and reporting.

How has it helped my organization?

It is a necessity in the world of marketing to have a strong marketing automation tool. I have been using it since I started working at Oracle.

What is most valuable?

The segmentation and email creation features. Those are the ones that I use most often and are the most critical to my job.

What needs improvement?

It could be a bit more intuitive for the average user. The segmentation portion is difficult for a marketer with no marketing operations experience to understand.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

Eloqua and Hubspot - can someone share their experience ..

We wanted to spend some time on this kind of tool but never happened. This thread gives a lot of insight without even trying Eloqua.

Looks like a long chain of people supporting Eloqua. I did not get a change to work directly on to it but wanted to hear if some one has exposure to a marketing solution from Hubspot.

Seems like they have nice offering for small/mid sized companies. Need to some one help us understand the pros and cons of two. They claim that their Inbound Marketing software is consistently generate more visits, leads, and customers and it also support lot of templates automating marketing and sales tasks and returns have been seen good.

Will be real nice to understand cost vs. effectiveness of the two.

Hi Hitendra,
Hubspot and Eloqua are in two different leagues.

Eloqua is an enterprise outbound marketing powerhouse that is fantastic if a company has the resources and time needed to deploy it properly.

Hubspot is an inbound marketing solution with email that was bolted on to it about 8 months ago. Very nice for inbound, but the outbound isn't very strong in the space.

If you're looking for marketing automation like Eloqua for the SMB segment, Pardot and Act-On (My company) are the better solutions for inbound and outbound. The products are richer, better integrated with CRMs and supremely better at outbound with very solid inbound functionality.

It's my belief that Inbound and outbound are symbiotic, and outbound drives traffic more so than inbound techniques. Both have their place and both are necessary.

From the perspective of someone that has purchased marketing automation (while at another company - we purchased Marketbright) Hubspot just isn't in the same category.

Bottom line though, if you're looking at Eloqua, you shouldn't be looking at Hubspot. If you're heavily considering Hubspot, you shouldn't be looking at Eloqua.

Based on the SMB comment, your best bet is going to be Act-On, Pardot...and maybe Marketo. Trying to understand the cost and effectiveness of these two side-by-side isn't worth the effort as they are built for two different tasks and two different market segments.

Best of luck,
Ryan Lucia
